Marvel recently revealed its official logo for 2025, and fans noticed a key character from the Netflix ‘Defenders’ series was missing. The new logo, unveiled at New York Comic-Con, is filled with dozens of Marvel heroes. While characters like Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, and the Punisher are prominently featured, one hero is conspicuously absent from the design.
The new Marvel logo for 2025 includes Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and even the Punisher, representing the main heroes from the old Netflix ‘Defenders’ series. However, Iron Fist, played by Finn Jones in those shows, is notably missing from the logo.
This has led some to believe Marvel has future plans for the Defenders team, particularly since rumors suggest news about them might be revealed at New York Comic Con. You can find more details about Marvel’s plans for NYCC here.

Krysten Ritter, who plays Jessica Jones, will appear in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again. There’s also talk that Mike Colter’s Luke Cage might join the show as well.
Because Luke Cage’s name appeared in the special title for the event, but Iron Fist’s didn’t, it’s possible Marvel Studios is still planning to use Luke Cage in future MCU projects, while Iron Fist might not be included.

Dario Scardapane, the showrunner and executive producer of Daredevil: Born Again, has hinted that characters like Iron Fist are considered, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Iron Fist will return, especially not as he appeared in the Netflix Defenders series.
The Iron Fist character has recently become popular again, thanks to a new version inspired by ancient Chinese legends appearing in the animated series, Eyes of Wakanda.
Finn Jones last played Iron Fist in his Netflix series, which aired in September 2018. While there’s been talk of him possibly returning to the Marvel universe, a recently revealed logo hints that he might not be included in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series, potentially ruling out a reunion with the Defenders.
Will Netflix’s Iron Fist Ever Return to the MCU?
Although Iron Fist is a well-known Marvel character in the comics, he hasn’t had as prominent a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as many fans would expect. While Finn Jones played the character in two seasons on Netflix and as part of The Defenders, he’s been largely absent from the MCU since then.
With Disney+ bringing back Marvel’s Netflix characters, some fans hoped to see Jones’ character, The Defender, reappear in the main Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, that now seems unlikely.
I’ve heard Jones mention before how much he’d really love to keep playing the role, but he wasn’t optimistic about it actually happening. It’s a shame, because he clearly enjoys the character!
I’m really interested in revisiting that character; I feel like there’s still a lot of potential to explore. I think it would be great to see them reappear in a show like ‘Heroes for Hire’.
Considering the generally negative reaction to Finn Jones’ portrayal of Iron Fist (his show received the lowest ratings of all the Defenders series), Marvel might decide to retire the character—or at least move away from this particular interpretation of it.
It now appears Marvel Studios is likely to introduce a completely new Iron Fist for its cinematic universe, with Finn Jones stepping down and passing the role on, a common practice in the Iron Fist comic books.
