Many of us became fans of things like comics, video games, and movies when we were young – and there were so many ways to fall in love with superheroes, aliens, and fantasy worlds! That’s fantastic, and now Disney+ seems to be trying to recreate that same excitement for a new generation, bringing them into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Disney+’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends follows young heroes Spidey, Ghost Spider, and Spin as they protect their city from villains like Green Goblin and Rhino. The show often features appearances from other Marvel characters, including Black Panther, Jeff the Land Shark, and Ms. Marvel. It’s a great, simple introduction to the Marvel universe for younger viewers, and it’s currently the most popular Marvel show available for streaming, significantly outperforming other Marvel TV series.
The More Adult Shows Have Some Serious Catching Up To Do

I was really interested to hear Kevin Feige talk about what’s performing well on Disney+ during a recent press event. He revealed that surprisingly, Spidey and His Amazing Friends and Avengers: Endgame are the two most-watched Marvel properties on the platform! He pointed out that this early exposure is great because kids are getting to know these heroes young and will likely continue to follow them as they get older. And it’s not just Spidey – Marvel’s second preschool show, Iron Man and His Awesome Friends, is also a hit! The latest episode even introduced Hawkeye, which is a smart way to build out that character’s fanbase from a young age.
As a Marvel fan, I’ve noticed they’re doing something really smart. It reminds me of the classic 90s cartoons like X-Men and Spider-Man – they’re clearly aiming to connect with a younger audience and build a lifelong fanbase. It totally makes sense with Spidey and His Amazing Friends – kids love it, and it’s a fun throwback for parents like me! It’s building that brand loyalty that some of the more mature Marvel shows haven’t quite achieved. Spidey’s always been popular, and this new series proves it, giving it a boost over other Disney+ shows. He’s still a massive draw for movies and merchandise, and other shows have some ground to make up in viewership. But the fact that they’re already planning a third season of Daredevil: Born Again before season two is even out is encouraging! I’m optimistic and excited to see what happens next.
