A new Resident Evil game comes out next week on November 17th, a little before the release of the next major installment, Resident Evil Requiem. This new game from Capcom will be completely free to play. However, it’s a strategy game, not the typical survival horror experience. And, unlike Resident Evil Requiem, it won’t be available on PCs or consoles—you’ll be able to play it on iOS and Android devices instead.
The latest installment in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil: Survival Unit, offers a fresh take on the classic formula. It blends the series’ signature horror with elements of base building, resource management, and strategic decision-making. While the gameplay is new to Resident Evil, it features familiar faces like Leon S. Kennedy, Jill Valentine, and Claire Redfield. Essentially, the game plays like XCOM but is set in the Resident Evil universe, though it appears to be made with a smaller budget, similar to a mobile game.
About the Game
The game takes place in a ruined city, completely devastated by a mysterious infection. You lead a small group of survivors and must help them rebuild their lives. This means finding essential supplies, constructing and improving your base – an old mansion – and growing your community in this dangerous, post-apocalyptic world. You’ll also need to strategically assign tasks to your survivors and protect them from the infected that roam the city.
Capcom is partnering with Aniplex and Joycity for this new game, and they’re responsible for its development and release. It’s scheduled to launch at 9:00 PM Eastern Time on the announced date. Currently, the game isn’t generating a lot of excitement – the official trailer has fewer than 10,000 views. However, it’s important to remember that Capcom isn’t heavily promoting it through its usual channels, which might indicate they want to position this game as separate from the main series. Despite the low view count, the trailer has received a positive response, with 383 likes compared to 81 dislikes.
