State of Play Announced for November 11, Will Focus on Games from Japan and Asia

Sony is holding a new State of Play presentation on November 11th, focusing on games from Japan and other parts of Asia. The livestream will begin at 2pm Pacific Time, 5pm Eastern Time, and 11pm Central European Time. Voice actor Yuki Kaji will host, and the show is expected to last over 40 minutes, featuring both new indie games and updates on existing titles.

We don’t yet know exactly which games will be shown at the next State of Play, but it will probably include a variety of titles from both PlayStation Studios and other game developers, both big and small. Given the event’s emphasis on games from Japan and Asia, we can expect new trailers for previously announced games, and possibly updates on major PlayStation games like Astro Bot and Ghost of Tsushima.

The most recent State of Play presentation was in September and showcased over 35 minutes of gameplay from various titles. The highlight was Saros, a new game from the creators of Returnal, Housemarque. We got a detailed look at the game’s setting, the planet Carcosa, and met the main character, Arjun Devraj, who is portrayed by Rahul Kohli.

The new trailer for Saros offered a good look at its quick, action-packed gameplay. We learned about the Soltari Shield, which can block enemy attacks, and how it can even charge up powerful weapons by absorbing damage. The game’s story will unfold as players search for the lost crew of the ship on Carcosa, finding clues in Holotag Caches and battling challenging enemies.

Housemarque recently shared how they responded to feedback on the September State of Play trailer. They’ve been building on the gameplay they established in their previous game, Returnal, and are making improvements. The new main character will focus more on action and combat, utilizing new tools and abilities. Lead Game Designer Abebe Tinari highlighted the Soltari Shield as a key feature that will allow for completely different ways to play.

The new shield changes how the game’s battles are created. Because players can now block attacks, enemies can have more complex and interesting attack styles. Plus, Saros will include impressive new visual effects created by Housemarque, with dynamic lighting and more realistic projectiles.

Saros is a game currently in development for the PlayStation 5, with a planned release date of March 20, 2026. You can find more information about how Housemarque is collaborating with Nixxes and PlayStation Studios Creative Arts to create the game online.
