Pluribus: What Really Happened To Helen?

Okay, huge warning: if you haven’t watched episode 2 of Pluribus yet, turn back now! This show is seriously blowing my mind. Basically, a virus has swept the globe, and now most people are connected as this… happy, smiling collective. It’s creepy and fascinating! But it’s also heartbreaking – we lost Helen, and it really hit Carol hard. I’m only two episodes in, and I’m already hooked – it’s amazing work from the creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, and everyone’s talking about how good it is!

Rhea Seehorn’s character, Carol Sturka, has quickly become the most compelling hero of the series. What sets her apart from other survivors is that she’s completely alone in navigating this new, post-apocalyptic world. While others have loved ones to lean on, Carol lost Helen, the most important person in her life.

Pluribus Suggested That Helen Had A Reaction To The Virus

The first episode of Pluribus showed the virus initially spreading gradually and within contained areas. However, it quickly escalated, eventually engulfing the entire world. Those infected experienced tremors before falling into a zombie-like condition.

Helen’s experience was different from what Carol had seen in others. Instead of immediately convulsing, Helen first became completely still, then lost her strength and dropped her phone. She fell backward with a thud before the convulsions began, similar to the other infected people.

As Carol hurried to find assistance for Helen, she noticed several other people exhibiting the same shaky movements. When she returned to Helen’s side, she found dark red marks under her eyes and that she’d stopped moving. For a moment, Helen seemed to recognize Carol, smiling briefly before peacefully passing away.

It’s unknown if Helen’s reaction to the virus was due to an allergy, or if her seizure simply caused a fatal fall, but it’s clear her response was out of the ordinary.

Did Helen Die From Her Fall In Pluribus?

I was really struck by the scene where Helen collapses outside the bar – it initially seemed like a simple fall that could have been fatal. But the more I thought about it, and especially noticing those dark circles under her eyes, it became clear there was something more going on, something beyond just the accident. It felt like whatever ultimately happened to her was already brewing beneath the surface.

I’ve been thinking about Carol Sturka, the main character in Pluribus, and how she seemed totally unaffected by the virus. It makes me wonder if others out there also had really unusual reactions – maybe even complete immunity like her, or something else entirely unexpected. It just feels like there must have been more than just the typical responses going around.

Helen’s fall could have been fatal, but it appears her health problems started and worsened before she died in the first episode of Pluribus. It’s likely something other than the fall itself caused her condition.
