Dota 2 launches Monster Hunter crossover with new hunts, pets, and cosmetics

Valve announced a big collaboration between Dota 2 and Monster Hunter! For a limited time—about three months—players will see elements from Capcom’s Monster Hunter universe, like wyverns and Palicoes, appear in the Dota 2 game.

This update brings the world of Monster Hunter into the game with six new hero outfits inspired by the series, a unique gameplay system where you hunt for materials, and adorable companions like a Palico messenger and a Poogie pet for your base. You’ll earn materials in every game, letting you craft free Monster Hunter-themed armor sets based on famous designs like Rathalos and Kirin.

Each hero has three different versions you can build, letting you change their look as you collect items from hunting. Everyone gets the basic hero designs for free, but if you buy the Expedition Pack, you’ll unlock special Monster Hunter-themed items, music, and the ability to craft even more unique hero looks, courier customizations, and pet appearances.

Dragon Knight now has a unique ability inspired by Monster Hunter – it can transform into Rathalos, a powerful monster, instead of its typical dragon form. Beastmaster players can summon a Bullfango companion, and the Expedition Pack includes starting crafting resources and exclusive cosmetic items with special visual effects.

The world’s most powerful, but dangerous, heroes are being hunted, and we need your help to find them in DOTA 2! A huge Monster Hunter crossover is coming, bringing new outfits, companion animals, a brand-new in-game hunting experience, a crafting system, and, naturally, monsters themselves!

The crossover includes:

  • Palico Courier
  • Odogaron Armor for Sniper
  • Palico Disguise Bomb Unit for Techies
  • Kirin Armor for Anti-Mage
  • Rathalos Armor for Dragon Knight
  • Bone Armor for Beastmaster
  • Zinogre Armor for Windranger
  • Poogie Effigy Pet

Players can follow their journey and learn more about the game world through the Hero Atlas, which includes stories and updates written from the perspective of Axe’s record-keeper, Goodkind.

The event is happening now and will last until early February 2026. During this time, players can participate in hunting, crafting, and collecting famous armor sets from Monster Hunter within the Dota 2 universe.
