Instead of waiting until 12th December for the new Knives Out mystery, Wake Up Dead Man, it’s now official that the movie will make its debut at a film festival about two months earlier than initially planned.
At the upcoming 69th BFI London Film Festival, taking place from 8th to 19th October, the latest movie by Rian Johnson and starring Daniel Craig will make its debut during the Opening Night Gala.
The movie is scheduled to be screened at the Royal Festival Hall of Southbank Centre on October 8th (Wednesday). Tickets for this event will become available starting from September 16th. However, BFI members can secure their tickets earlier than others.
Previously, both Knives Out and its sequel, Glass Onion, have been screened at the same film festival. Specifically, Glass Onion concluded the 66th BFI London Film Festival last year, which was 2022, whereas Knives Out made its debut as the AMEX Gala for the 63rd edition of the festival in 2019.
In a statement, Johnson expressed his delight, saying, “It’s an honor for us to kick off the BFI London Film Festival with ‘Wake Up Dead Man.’ With London being the cradle of the golden era of detective stories, it’s exhilarating to return!
During this 69th edition of the BFI London Film Festival, Kristy Matheson (the festival’s director) encourages everyone to sharpen their focus as we dive into a captivating whodunit, directed by Rian Johnson and featuring an exceptional ensemble cast, with the film titled “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery”.
Under the direction of Daniel Craig and Josh O’Connor, this movie showcases an array of brilliant British and global actors both in front of and behind the camera. Their energetic performances infuse the film with a lively spirit, creating a production that is full of surprises, keeping viewers on their toes until the very last scene.
We’re thrilled to bring you the third installment of the captivating Knives Out series that we showcased at the London Film Festival. Let’s celebrate together on our exclusive Opening Night!
The full festival programme will be revealed on Wednesday 3rd September 2025.
In addition to Craig and O’Connor, the cast of Wake Up Dead Man also includes Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.
