The stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is coming back to Broadway, and this time, a familiar face from the Harry Potter films will be joining the cast. Tom Felton, best known for playing Draco Malfoy, is reprising his role as the Slytherin student. Since the announcement, Felton has shared his enthusiasm about returning to the character, and fans are eagerly anticipating his performance.
Fans of The Cursed Child know that Draco Malfoy has evolved beyond being Harry Potter’s simple rival. In the play, he’s a father to a son named Scorpius. Tom Felton, the actor who plays Draco, seems thrilled to revisit the character as an older man, and he’s shared his excitement since being cast. This week, Felton makes his debut in the play and celebrated by posting a photo of himself in costume on Instagram, along with a short two-word caption.

It’s somewhat surreal to think that Tom Felton is actually donning his blonde locks again – this time, thanks to a wig and not hair dye – and playing Malfoy again. Fans seem incredibly enthusiastic about this reprisal, though I’d argue Felton may be even more psyched than they are. On Instagram, the British actor also shared a number of fun Potter-centric story posts, with one featuring a throwback promo photo of him as Malfoy, with the caption, “a few things happened since”. Felton also dropped a sweet photo involving his dogs:

Over the past few months, Tom Felton, known for playing Draco Malfoy, has been sharing glimpses into his experience returning to the role in The Cursed Child. He previously mentioned being emotional during his first costume fitting and spoke about the initial read-through of the script. Felton has also been focusing on the subtle details of his character, even practicing his pronunciation of “Potter” to get ready.
It’s so heartwarming to see everyone rallying around Tom Felton! His on-screen dad, Jason Isaacs, is incredibly proud of his return as Draco and has been showering him with support. Tom even shared that Daniel Radcliffe has been giving him advice on stage acting, which is amazing – Dan really knows his stuff after all his theatre work. It’s just lovely to see them all still so close and supportive of each other!
