During the recent State of Play Japan event, Arc System Works announced a closed beta for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. The beta will take place from December 5th to 7th, and you can sign up now. It will feature two new characters you can play as: Spider-Man and Ghost Rider. See their abilities in the video below!
The game is adding eight new characters, plus two new stages and three arenas. One of the arenas is the X-Mansion, which features Colossus, Angel, Psylocke, Nightcrawler, and Beast in the background – possibly suggesting they could become playable characters in the future. Arc System Works chose Robbie Reyes as Ghost Rider instead of Johnny Blaze because of the story, but they aren’t sharing the details just yet.
The closed beta will feature online matches with a smooth rollback netcode, a spectator mode, and the ability to fight against computer-controlled opponents. While the gameplay of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls may be debated, the game’s visuals are stunning. Marvel Games is aiming to re-establish Marvel as a major force in the fighting game community, hoping to attract Marvel vs. Capcom fans and support the game for a decade, which is an ambitious and noteworthy goal.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls launches next year for PS5 and PC.
