Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls recently had a beta test, and another one is coming soon! This next test won’t be the same as the first – it will include new characters, stages, and improvements. If you’re interested in trying out the updated version, you won’t have to wait long.
During PlayStation’s recent State of Play presentation focused on Japan, Arc System Works shared details about a second closed beta test. This beta will be available on PS5 only (no PC version was mentioned) and will run continuously from December 5th at midnight PT to December 7th at 11:59 p.m. PT. This time, the beta will be online constantly, unlike the first test which had several interruptions and limited sessions lasting only six hours at a time. Those earlier sessions weren’t always conveniently scheduled, sometimes occurring very late at night or near midnight.
How to Sign Up for the Second Marvel Tokon Beta

You can sign up for the second closed beta of Marvel Tokon on PlayStation’s website, but it’s been reported to have some technical issues. If you see an error message or are taken to the PlayStation Store, it likely means you’re already registered. Players who participated in the first closed beta will be automatically signed up and receive a reminder soon. If you didn’t play in the first beta, the registration site should look as shown in the image. Also, those enrolled in PlayStation’s Beta Program might be selected and will receive an email notification.
A new trailer accompanied the announcement, showcasing features and characters in the upcoming beta. Spider-Man and Ghost Rider are joining the roster this time, having been previously revealed but unavailable in the first beta. That initial beta only included Ms. Marvel, Storm, Captain America, Iron Man, Doctor Doom, and Star-Lord – all of whom will return for this second beta. However, the game may feel different as director Sekuto Sekine confirmed the December beta will have balance changes, improved graphics and performance, and several other enhancements over the first test.
Two new fighters are joining the game, along with two new stages: Savage Land and X-Mansion. Savage Land is based on a prehistoric world full of dinosaurs, while X-Mansion is the iconic home of the X-Men, with characters like Beast, Cable, Nightcrawler, and Professor X visible in the background. Savage Land will feature several different arenas to battle in, but X-Mansion will only have one. However, art director Tetsuma Kurosaka explained that the X-Mansion arena will change dynamically during fights to keep things interesting. Producer Takeshi Yamanaka also revealed they chose Robbie Reyes as Ghost Rider because they wanted a younger take on the character.
The next beta test will include offline battles against the computer, plus new looks for your player avatar in the online lobby, which is designed to feel like a classic arcade. These offline battles will only be available on December 5th and 6th, with the final day dedicated to online play. Good news for those who tried the first beta: the rollback netcode and spectator mode are both back!
