Aliens: Fireteam Elite Sequel Seemingly Pushed Back to Q3 2026 – Rumour

The release of the next Aliens: Fireteam Elite game is likely to be delayed. Enad Global 7, the owner of Daybreak Games, recently announced a $6.5 million investment in Cold Iron Studios’ next project, pushing the expected release window to the third quarter of 2026.

Although the press release didn’t specifically name it Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, the game is almost certainly that title, given its description as a cooperative action shooter based on a popular movie franchise.

A new game, internally known as Project Avo, was likely to be announced soon. This is because it briefly appeared on the ESRB website, the US game ratings board. Although the listing was quickly removed, screenshots were captured showing that Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 would be rated Mature 17+ and released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has rated Aliens: Fireteam Elite and listed content warnings for blood, gore, strong language, and violence, indicating these elements will be present in the cooperative shooter.

News about Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 first appeared in July 2024 when an internal document was shared on Reddit. At the time, the game was known as Project Mocando, and the document indicated that the sequel would aim to enhance the gameplay, mood, and thrills of the first game.

The game is planned to include a cooperative campaign for two players, estimated to take 8 to 12 hours to complete. A new game mode called Annihilation Mode is also in development. However, this information comes from an early version of the game, so details could have changed since then.

In Aliens: Fireteam Elite, up to three players team up as colonial marines to complete missions on the planet LV-895. The game’s campaign takes players through the planet’s ruins and caves, where they’ll battle both the terrifying xenomorphs and hostile, malfunctioning robots. Each mission usually involves completing a couple of goals before the team escapes.

In 2022, Aliens: Fireteam Elite received a significant update with the release of the Pathogen expansion. This expansion introduced new locations and maps, along with a campaign where players investigated a strange pathogen that even impacts the xenomorphs themselves. Pathogen also greatly expanded the game’s content, adding 8 new weapons, perks, and cosmetic items to the existing 7 playable classes and arsenal of weapons and attachments.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
