The popular manga and anime series My Hero Academia concluded its run in August 2024, with the final season of the anime currently airing and depicting the intense Final War Arc. A surprising turn of events occurred shortly after the final season began: Katsuki Bakugo, a fan-favorite character, unexpectedly returned. Many believed he had died after being fatally wounded in Season 7. Despite this apparent loss, the conflict continues, as the villains relentlessly push the heroes to their breaking points in the grueling war.
Bakugo returns in Episode 2 of the final season and quickly becomes the central focus for a couple of episodes. He suffers a life-threatening injury but is saved by Edgeshot, who uses his quirk to repair the damage. Despite still recovering, Bakugo re-enters the fight against All For One. Recently, Clifford Chapin, Bakugo’s English voice actor, revealed on social media that recording Episode 4 was so difficult it negatively affected his health.
Bakugo’s Voice Actor Nearly Fainted After Recording My Hero Academia: Final Season Episode 4
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Chapin revealed how physically demanding it was to film Episode 4 of the final season. He said he almost passed out multiple times during the recording, pulled a muscle near his eye that’s still healing, and suffered a six-day headache afterward.
He ended with a lighthearted comment, referencing a past event involving his colleague. Throughout his career, he’s voiced over 200 characters, including roles like Himmel in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Connie Springer in Attack on Titan, and Miyuki Shirogane in Kaguya-sama: Love Is War.
Chapin’s wife, Kristen McGuire, is a well-known voice actress with credits in anime and video games, including roles as Ruri in Dr. Stone and Sota in Medalist. She shared his post, proudly writing, “That’s my husband! He really wanted to do this scene well and put his heart into it. I’m so proud of everything he’s done to bring Bakugo to life over the past nine years.”
She ended with a touching statement: “Clifford is my hero, today and always.” The voice actor for Bakugo, Chapin, has played the character since the beginning of the show and is often commended for his incredible portrayal of the popular anime hero. In a particularly demanding episode filled with intense fighting and constant shouting from Bakugo, Chapin pushed himself so hard that he actually strained his voice – a testament to his dedication to the role.
