Showrunner Matt Selman hinted at the celebration during San Diego Comic-Con 2025, saying, “Reaching 800 episodes is a big deal, so we’re doing two brand new episodes that night.” He also promised fans, “They’re currently top secret, but I guarantee it will be the best 800th episode of any show ever!”
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Selman hinted at what viewers can expect from the upcoming 800th episode of the animated series. While he was careful not to reveal too much, he did say, “It involves the dog… The dog gets fat!” Although the show hasn’t officially shared details about the milestone episode, it sounds like they’re planning something special.

The Simpsons will finish its 37th season on February 15th.
