I remember when these incredible musicians – Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward, and Tony Iommi – first started out! Before they became the legendary Black Sabbath, they actually played together as a band called Earth. It’s amazing to think about where it all began!

The heavy metal band members were ready to rock as they posed for this shot.

Ozzy Osbourne, originally named John Michael Osbourne, was born in Birmingham, England, in 1948. He didn’t enjoy school much at first, but his love of music helped him succeed.
In a 2010 interview with The Associated Press, he admitted he didn’t get much out of school. He explained that his dyslexia made learning difficult, and he was often teased by a sister for his inability to read, which he found deeply embarrassing.
He said The Beatles were hugely influential in getting him interested in music, and he doesn’t know where he’d be today without it. He explained that music was the primary reason he left his hometown.

In 1968, he started the band Black Sabbath with some friends, taking the name from a horror film. Their first album was a big hit. He married Thelma Riley in 1971, and they had three children: Jessica Osbourne, Louis Osbourne, and Elliot Kingsley.

Let me tell you, seeing Black Sabbath live at the California Jam was incredible! During their set, the singer – you probably know him as the voice of “Paranoid” – really connected with the audience. He was wearing these amazing, shimmering pants decorated with a snake design, and he actually went out into the crowd to embrace everyone. It was a truly special moment!

Black Sabbath walked the streets of London in style.

Ozzy Osbourne performed at Madison Square Garden during his Diary of a Madman tour shortly after the famous incident where he bit the head off a bat thrown onstage, mistakenly thinking it was a prop.
You know, I always thought the story was hilarious, but also a little terrifying. In the documentary, Ozzy explained it like it was no big deal – he just saw what he thought was a rubber bat and instinctively bit down on it. He said he totally acted like the goofball he always was, and then realized it was actually a real bat! Can you imagine? He just crunched down on it, thinking it was fake. It’s classic Ozzy, honestly.
Later that year, he married his manager, Sharon Arden.

Ozzy Osbourne, known for his dark eyeliner and song “Iron Man,” was photographed with a cigarette before a show in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. He and his wife, Sharon, later had their first child, Aimee Osbourne.

I’ve been a fan of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne for years! It was so lovely to see pictures of them enjoying a vacation in Brazil – they’ve been married since 1982, and it’s wonderful to see them still so happy together. And of course, they’re the proud parents of Jack Osbourne, who I’ve also always admired.
