This week marked the 10-year anniversary of Fallout 4, the popular action RPG from Bethesda released in 2015. To commemorate the occasion, Bethesda launched the Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition. This edition bundles the original game, all six of its expansions, and 150 pieces of content created by the community and selected by the developers through the Creation Club. It’s available for $60, or as a $40 upgrade if you already own the base game.
Even though it doesn’t save you money compared to buying everything separately, the complete Fallout 4 package is a convenient option if you don’t already have the game and its expansions. However, I strongly advise against buying it, especially on PC – it’s just not worth the cost.
I’ve noticed some really good deals on Fallout 4 right now. You can actually get the Steam version of the game, with all its content, for less than half the price of the Anniversary Edition. I saw the ‘Game of the Year Edition,’ which usually costs around $40 and includes all the expansions, going for just $11.19 at Loaded. Plus, the ‘Creations Bundle’ – a collection of 150 Creation Club items normally priced at $20 – is available for $17.79 at the same site.
Fallout 4 is good fun, and worth picking up

Although the recent Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition update has received criticism for causing problems with mods and performance, Fallout 4 remains a strong and well-loved role-playing game. Its popularity has significantly increased, especially after the release of the Fallout TV series last year, and is expected to rise again when the second season airs in December.
Fallout 4 is the latest single-player role-playing game from Bethesda, set in a post-nuclear Boston and surrounding area of Massachusetts. Taking place 210 years after a devastating nuclear war in 2077, the game features a huge open world to explore, tons of side missions, and robust building options. It also has the most refined shooting gameplay of any Fallout title.
Fallout 4 includes a popular settlement building system where players can create and manage bases, villages, and towns throughout the game world. It’s incredibly engaging – particularly with PC mods that add even more building options and decorations – and proved so successful that a similar system, called C.A.M.P., was later included in the online game Fallout 76.
While enjoyable, this game isn’t without its problems. The main story feels weak, and the dialogue and voice acting are particularly disappointing. These issues, combined with the usual bugs and clunkiness found in games made by this developer, hold it back. I personally find earlier titles like Fallout 3 and New Vegas more engaging, even though their controls and shooting mechanics now feel a bit old-fashioned.
Despite any flaws, Fallout 4 is still a really enjoyable game, and it’s definitely worth buying all the extra content, especially at this price. If you’re playing on PC, take advantage of these deals and get the content separately instead of buying the new Anniversary Edition.
Fallout 4 is available to play with an Xbox Game Pass subscription on both Xbox consoles and PC. However, if you want to experience the game’s downloadable content and Creation Club items, you’ll need to buy them separately.
