The first trailer is out for ‘Goodbye June,’ Kate Winslet’s new Christmas movie, which also marks her first time directing a film.
A new Netflix movie, coming to the platform on December 24th, tells the story of a British family struggling to get through the holiday season.
As a big movie fan, I’m already intrigued by this one! It’s set around Christmas and centers on four grown siblings and their dad who are thrown into a really tough situation when their mom suddenly gets sick. It sounds like it’s going to be a pretty emotional story about family – all the messy stuff that comes with it – as they deal with the possibility of losing her.
However, their clever mother, June, manages her own illness in a way that feels empowering – she faces it with sharp wit, directness, and plenty of affection.
The trailer showcases touching and feel-good moments. As June, played by Helen Mirren, says, “I love you all so much. But I love you twice as much when you love each other.”

I’m so excited about the cast of ‘Goodbye June’! It’s incredible – Helen Mirren, Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall… and Kate Winslet is in it too! What a lineup of talent.
Kate Winslet’s son, Joe Anders, wrote the screenplay for the film. This isn’t their first collaboration; they’ve recently worked together on projects like ‘Lee’ and ‘I Am Ruth’.
Winslet is also producing alongside Kate Solomon.
