Netflix is actively searching for its next big hit to follow Stranger Things, which is concluding with its final season. To keep viewers subscribed after the show ends, Netflix is developing several potential replacements. Wednesday is currently a strong contender, benefiting from its established fanbase and rising star Jenna Ortega. However, a key element is still needed for Wednesday to truly take the lead.
As a huge fan of shows like Stranger Things, I think people really underestimate just how big it is. It starts in a small Indiana town, sure, but it quickly expands to other dimensions, Russia, and even California! Speaking of big adventures, One Piece on Netflix is always traveling the world, and they just announced a new cast member that everyone’s talking about. Honestly, that news isn’t just exciting for One Piece fans – it’s a really good sign for other fantasy shows, like Stranger Things, that are trying to create that same sense of epic scope and adventure.
Netflix’s One Piece Did Right By Its Fans

With the second season of One Piece set to premiere in early 2026, it might seem odd that new cast members are being announced now. However, the show has already been renewed for a third season, so they’re getting a head start on adding talent. Cole Escola will be playing Bon Clay, a significant character from Crocodile’s Baroque Works, and is sure to cause trouble for Monkey D. Luffy. To help Luffy, his brother Portgas D. Ace will be joining the cast, played by Xolo Maridueña, known for his role in Cobra Kai.
Soon after Netflix announced a live-action version of One Piece, fans immediately started a campaign to cast Xolo Maridueña as Ace. He’d already shown his acting ability over six seasons of Cobra Kai where he played Miguel Diaz, making him a strong contender for the character who controls the Flame-Flame Fruit. His existing friendship with the show’s lead actor, Iñaki Godoy, was an added bonus. Ultimately, the decision rested with Netflix, but thankfully they listened to fan feedback, which is a promising sign for the show’s future.
Listening to Fans Will Help Netflix’s Next Fantasy Franchise Succeed

With the success of Stranger Things, many are wondering what show could be next. It’s worth considering The Chronicles of Narnia, as Netflix is currently developing a series of films based on the books. Greta Gerwig is starting things off with an adaptation of The Magician’s Nephew. While familiar characters like Aslan and the White Witch will appear, the Pevensie family won’t be the main focus right away. This actually gives fans time to share their ideas about who should play those iconic roles when the time comes.
Even if Netflix feels confident in its casting process, fans still have a chance to share their opinions. The plan is to adapt the entire Chronicles of Narnia series, which will involve at least seven films and a long development period. If Netflix is open to feedback, there’s a good chance Narnia could become as popular as Stranger Things and be a major success for the streaming service.
