7 Best MCU Powers Nobody Talks About

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has brought many powerful characters from Marvel comics to life on screen, but some are more prominent than others. Since its start in 2008 with Iron Man, the MCU has aimed to create a vast and interconnected cinematic world. As a result, many iconic Marvel heroes and villains have appeared in the movies, each with unique and impressive abilities. These powers are key to understanding where characters stand in terms of overall strength within the MCU, as some are naturally more powerful than others.

Within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, some superpowers are clearly more effective than others, creating a sort of power ranking among characters. Beyond the well-known abilities, many other useful and impressive powers often go unnoticed, both within the stories themselves and in fan discussions. These underrated powers are actually some of the coolest and most powerful in the entire MCU, but they rarely get the attention they deserve.

7) The Skrulls’ Shapeshifting

The Skrulls, an alien race with the ability to change their appearance, feel like a forgotten part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While they’re still present in the franchise, their storyline hasn’t been a major focus. Unlike the comics, where they’re often villains, the Skrulls in the MCU mostly use their shape-shifting abilities for other purposes. This power offers great potential for storytelling, but the Skrulls’ previous appearances haven’t been very well-received, which may be why their stories aren’t explored more often.

6) Heimdall’s Enhanced Senses

Idris Elba’s character, Heimdall, used to guard Asgard and the Bifrost, and while he’s currently depicted as being in Valhalla within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, his abilities are surprisingly underrated. He can see and hear everything happening across all nine realms, almost as if he’s everywhere at once. When you add in his Asgardian strength and long life, Heimdall is a really powerful character.

5) Vision’s Phasing

With Vision set to return in a new Marvel series, it’s interesting how often one of his key abilities is forgotten. Beyond powers from the Mind Stone, Vision can pass through solid objects – like walls and even people. Unlike other characters who can phase, such as Ghost, Vision does this effortlessly and on demand. It’s a really useful power that doesn’t get highlighted enough.

4) Sue Storm’s Invisibility & Force-Field Generation

Sue Storm quickly established herself as a powerful force in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after her introduction in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. While she’s known for her ability to turn invisible and manipulate light, her real strength lies in creating incredibly strong force fields. The movie demonstrates this, showing her even pushing Galactus with their power. She can also make large objects, like entire spaceships, disappear with relative ease, proving her abilities are among the most impressive – and underestimated – in the MCU.

3) Sersi’s Matter Transmutation

Sersi could have easily been the central character in Eternals. Not only did she become the Prime Eternal after Ajak’s passing, but her unique ability to change matter into other substances was crucial during the Emergence. This power is impressive and has limitless possibilities, potentially offering huge advantages to whoever uses it – or even to the entire world. It’s a shame Eternals wasn’t more popular, because Sersi’s power is actually one of the most fascinating abilities we’ve seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

2) Hulk’s Invulnerability

Hulk is easily one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and few heroes could defeat him in a fight. While his incredible strength is often highlighted, people often forget a key aspect of his abilities: his power grows with his anger, and this also makes him virtually immortal. Though he’s undeniably strong, discussions about Hulk in the MCU often leave out important details about the full extent of his powers.

1) Makkari’s Super Speed

Though not the first super-fast character in the MCU, and likely not the last, Makkari’s incredible speed is surprisingly underrated. While Quicksilver had a similar ability, Makkari’s Eternal biology enhances her power, making her exceptionally versatile and helpful in many situations. This makes her speed one of the best abilities in the MCU, despite not getting much attention.
