This year’s Strictly Come Dancing Blackpool special will feature a surprise performance: four former celebrity contestants are coming back to dance as part of a group number.
As a huge Strictly fan, I’m so excited for this! Ashley Roberts, Danny Mac, Jay McGuiness, and Layton Williams are all returning to perform with the pros. They’re going to recreate some of their best dances from the show, and then everyone will come together for a big celebration of dance right in the amazing Blackpool Tower Ballroom. It’s going to be a real trip down memory lane and a fantastic spectacle, I just know it!
Jay McGuiness won the Strictly Come Dancing competition in 2015 with his partner Aliona Vilani. Their new dance will include moves from his memorable Jive performance.
He expressed his excitement about returning to Strictly Come Dancing, saying he feels fortunate to rejoin former and new contestants. He’s looking forward to having fun with everyone involved.
Both Danny Mac and Ashley Roberts were finalists on Strictly Come Dancing – Danny in 2016 and Ashley in 2018. Their new dance routine combines elements from Ashley’s energetic Jive and Danny’s well-known Samba.
Ashley expressed her excitement about returning to the Blackpool dance floor after almost ten years. She joked about hoping her dancing skills hadn’t faded and added that a little sparkle from sequins always helps!
Danny shared that dancing in Blackpool was a real standout moment for him on Strictly Come Dancing. He’s incredibly excited, though a little nervous, to return to The Tower Ballroom and work with the amazing people who make the show so special.
Layton reached the final of Strictly Come Dancing in 2023 with Nikita Kuzmin and is coming back to perform his impressive Quickstep.
Layton shared his excitement about returning to the famous Blackpool dance floor, saying it holds a special place in his heart and he’s thrilled to be invited back. He jokingly wondered if he still has the moves!
The Saturday night show in Blackpool will kick off with a spectacular performance by Steps, featuring their most popular songs. They’ll be joined on stage by the professional dancers, celebrity contestants, and all four judges.
The finalists’ dance, created by Jason Gilkison, will be shown on the Sunday results show from Blackpool. The show will also include a performance by Lewis Capaldi, with the professional dancers.
The Strictly Come Dancing special from Blackpool will be shown on BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday, November 22nd.
