The popular game Animal Crossing: New Horizons helped drive sales of the Nintendo Switch, with many players purchasing a console specifically to play it. Now that Animal Crossing is getting a major update and a version for the new Switch 2, its competitor, Hello Kitty Island Adventure, has followed with a surprise announcement. On November 13th, Hello Kitty Island Adventure released an upgraded version for the Switch 2, making it available to play on the new console immediately.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure has been incredibly popular since it launched on Nintendo Switch and PC earlier this year. Originally available on Apple Arcade, the game gained even more players with its release on consoles and PC. The developers are still adding content with new seasonal events and downloadable content like September’s Wheatflour Wonderland. Now, players with the new Switch 2 can enjoy an upgraded version of the game. Here’s the latest information about the unexpected launch of Hello Kitty Island Adventure for Switch 2.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure Arrives on Switch 2 with New Trailer
Sunblink recently surprised fans by launching Hello Kitty Island Adventure on the Switch 2, and they released a new trailer to announce it. The trailer is short and doesn’t have any narration, making it easy to overlook the new features for the Switch 2 version. While it does show off improved graphics and a glimpse of key features, some details are very quick! Luckily, the official description provides more information about what’s new in this version.
The Switch 2 version of Hello Kitty Island Adventure will have a sharper picture thanks to improved resolution – which is expected with any upgrade to new hardware. But what other changes can we expect?
Similar to the new version of Animal Crossing coming to the Switch 2, Hello Kitty Island Adventure is also improving its multiplayer features. Players will now be able to see each other on video when using GameChat. Plus, the Switch 2 version of Hello Kitty Island Adventure will work with the new Joy-Con 2’s mouse controls, which is great news for a game focused on decorating!

The Switch 2 version of Hello Kitty Island Adventure offers the same basic gameplay as the original, but with some improvements tailored for the new console. It costs $49.99 – $10 more than the Switch version, which is typical for games released on both consoles. If you already have the game on Switch, you can upgrade to the Switch 2 version with a $10 pack to get the enhanced features.
If you’re happy with your current game, it should still work on the new Switch 2 thanks to backwards compatibility. However, some players have recently reported a few issues when playing older Switch games on the new console. We expect these problems to be fixed in future updates. If you’d like better graphics, mouse support, or to use the CameraPlay feature, the Switch 2 upgrade is available now.
You can now play Hello Kitty Island Adventure on a variety of devices, including iPhones, iPads, Apple Arcade, PCs, Nintendo Switch, and the new Nintendo Switch 2.
