As a huge Stranger Things fan, I was so excited to see Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) and Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) paired up again in season 5! It’s the first time since the very beginning – season one – and honestly, I have a feeling it’s going to be a wild ride. Get ready for some chaos!
Dyer acknowledged that the contestants are unusually close this season. He explained that everyone is working together more intensely than in previous seasons, and this naturally includes the two people we’re talking about.
Keery mentioned they were having a great time filming together. He explained it had been a while – they hadn’t worked on a project together since the first season.
Keery also discussed the popular relationship between Steve and Dustin, explaining that it’s changed this season. Dustin is dealing with a lot of sadness after the death of Eddie Munson.
“I think it’s a cool what they’ve done with the characters here,” he explained.
When I take on a role, I always hope the character goes through some kind of transformation. This season feels like a fresh start for Gaten’s character, who is dealing with the loss of a close friend, Eddie. That loss really pushes Steve into a protective role, where he’s looking out for Gaten’s character and supporting him.
It makes him act like he has the right answers for how Dustin should be feeling, which isn’t a helpful way to support someone.
Sometimes, all someone needs is a supportive friend. This year will lead him down a new, somewhat challenging road, but I believe it could ultimately lead to a positive outcome for both of them.
Okay, so I’m really excited (and a little terrified!) for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. Apparently, the last showdown for Hawkins is coming, but things are complicated. Vecna, that seriously creepy villain, has vanished, and the whole town is now under military lockdown. It’s setting up to be a huge, dramatic finish, and I can’t wait to see how it all goes down.
