One of the Most Anticipated RPGs in Years May Release in 2026

Next year, 2026, is shaping up to be an incredible year for video games, with several highly anticipated titles expected to launch. At the forefront is Grand Theft Auto VI, and it will be joined by other major releases like Marvel’s Wolverine and 007 First Light. There’s even talk that Half-Life 3 might finally come out, which would make 2026 a truly historic year for gaming. Beyond these big franchises, we can also expect some exciting new and original games to emerge and surprise players.

RPG fans are keeping a close eye on Phantom Blade Zero, a new action-RPG that mixes fast-paced combat with the challenging style of games like Souls. It’s been building a lot of excitement with its impressive trailers and interviews, and could become a surprise hit this year, similar to how Black Myth: Wukong unexpectedly took off in 2024.

Phantom Blade Zero May Finally Release in 2026

While there’s no official release date yet, Phantom Blade Zero is now expected to launch in 2026. Over the past year, the game has been showcased at several events, and demos have been available to play. Combined with the fact that development began in the late 2010s – though it was paused and later restarted in the early 2020s – a 2026 release seems increasingly probable, as the game has been in the works for quite some time.

They hinted at a release date way back at the beginning of the year, but it never materialized. I’m really hoping we’ll finally get some news at The Game Awards in December – maybe a proper release date will show up then. I’ve heard whispers about a fall 2026 launch, but honestly, I’m taking those rumors with a massive grain of salt. Nothing’s confirmed yet!

Releasing the game earlier could help it stand out from other titles. A spring or summer launch would probably be best, but we’ll need to wait for an official announcement. We expect to hear release news for Phantom Blade Zero soon, and hopefully the game itself won’t be far behind. When it does launch, it will be available on both PS5 and PC.
