Good news for fans of 2010s television! A critically acclaimed comedy series from that decade is now available to stream. The 2010s were a golden age for TV, with hits like The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and Stranger Things attracting huge audiences worldwide and changing what mainstream television looked like. When it came to comedy, shows like BoJack Horseman, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Community were incredibly popular, and now another beloved series – which has been hard to find online until recently – is back for rewatching.
After being unavailable for a couple of months – first leaving Netflix and then all streaming platforms – you can now easily watch all four seasons of the hit comedy The Good Place on Peacock, starting November 17th. Created by Michael Schur, the comedic mind behind Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, the show originally aired on NBC from 2016 to 2020. It follows Eleanor Shellstrop, a woman who dies and mistakenly ends up in a heavenly afterlife. Determined to stay there, she tries to conceal her flawed past and become a better person across the show’s 53 episodes.
The Good Place Is a Peak 2010s Comedy That Still Holds Up Today
Even though it first aired on NBC almost ten years ago, The Good Place remains a fantastic comedy. It perfectly captured a shift in television towards more creative, complex shows that blended humor with dramatic twists and ongoing storylines. What made The Good Place special was its ability to be both incredibly funny and deeply touching, offering a thoughtful look at what it means to be human. It explored big questions about right and wrong, the search for purpose, and the impact of our choices.
During the 2010s, The Good Place became a standout show in what’s known as the ‘Golden Age of Television.’ Its engaging story and memorable characters made it consistently enjoyable and perfect for watching all at once. Over its four seasons, the series earned 13 Emmy nominations and a Peabody Award in 2019, and it received exceptionally positive reviews, with a 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes – the highest of any show created by Mike Schur. Seasons 2 and 4 both achieved a perfect 100% critic score, and viewers consistently gave it an average rating of 90%.
What’s New on Peacock?
Peacock has added several new titles to its streaming library this month, including the complete series The Good Place. TV fans can also enjoy Season 2 of St. Denis Medical and Happy’s Place, with new episodes becoming available on Peacock just one day after they air on NBC. On the movie side, classics like the original Jurassic Park trilogy, Matilda, and Zero Dark Thirty are now available to stream.
