Cynthia Erivo Goes Feathered, Futuristic at Wicked’s NYC Premiere

Cynthia Erivo’s red carpet look should be held in high esteem.

The actress from Wicked: For Good turned heads at the New York premiere of the Broadway show’s film adaptation, sporting a stylish outfit that even her character, Glinda, would admire.

For the event on November 17th, Cynthia wore a black Balenciaga gown paired with a cropped leather top. The top and dress both featured feathered details around the edges and on the sleeves. The dress itself, made of black satin, had a long, flowing train that trailed behind her as she moved.

Honestly, what really caught my eye about her outfit was the sunglasses! They were huge, with a really cool, futuristic frame, and she totally rocked them while posing on the black carpet at the premiere. They just completed the whole look, in my opinion.

Cynthia made a striking impression at the New York premiere, but her show-stopping fashion choices have been a highlight throughout the Wicked: For Good tour. She previously wowed at the London premiere on November 10th, wearing a custom navy Prada gown with black leather detailing and a matching leather belt.

One of her most popular fashion moments happened when a fan, Clara, returned the Schiaparelli hat the award-winning actress left at last year’s London movie premiere.

Cynthia shared a video on Instagram on November 11th of herself wearing a cap, and captioned it with lyrics from the song “Dancing Through Life” from the musical Wicked, writing, “We deserve each other.” She also thanked someone named Clara.

Cynthia has gained attention for her fashion choices while promoting Wicked, but she’s also talked about becoming close to her co-star, Ariana Grande, while playing Elphaba. She’s described their connection as being similar yet different – like two sides of the same coin.

In a recent interview with Sheinelle Jones on Today, actress Fantasia Barrino explained her connection with Ariana. She said they both have qualities that the other admires and appreciates, and that their relationship is built on being truly honest with each other.

Ari, who also appears with Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Marissa Bode, and Ethan Slater, shared a similar opinion.

Ariana said it was the greatest honor of her career to have worked alongside and shared scenes with this person. She was especially thrilled to have sung with what she called the world’s greatest singer, saying it had spoiled her for any future collaborations.

In response, Cynthia tearfully added, “Thank you. I love you.”
