Acclaimed Seinen Action Fantasy Series Announces Anime With Black Torch Studio

Revised from the ongoing eight-part manga by Dr. Poro and artist Nabana Naba, “The Vermilion Mask” introduces a fresh angle to anime fights – featuring masks! Published by Shonengahosha (YOUNGKING OURS), this manga debuted in 2021 and can be found digitally on Orange for volumes 1-4. Excitingly, it’s now being adapted into an anime! This gripping tale is filled with intense action, profound emotion, and a world where masks possess immense power. However, the terrible repercussions that come with such power cannot be hidden behind them.

100studio, the studio behind the anime version of Black Torch, will handle the animation for this upcoming adaptation. Notable contributors include director Tetsuaki Watanabe (Haikyu!!), assistant director Gai Hazako, series composer Daisuke Ohigashi (Fate/strange Fake), story supervisors Nabana Naba and Dr. Poro, character designer/story supervisor Hisashi Higashijima (Mashle: Magic and Muscles), sound director Fumiyuki Goh (Kaiju No.8, Overlord), and music composition by Arisa Okehazama (Jujutsu Kaisen, The Apothecary Diaries). With such a talented team on board, this anime adaptation promises to generate excitement!

An Action-Packed Anime Featuring Powerful Masks

The Masks of the Warrior Deity, the Spider, the Flame Dragon, the Mask of Courage, and the Vermilion Mask are potent artifacts that bestow extraordinary powers upon those who don them. Occasionally, they awaken unimaginable potential; other times, they trigger catastrophic events. Peru, an apprentice to the renowned mask maker Gaston Lou, loses self-control after donning the Mask of the Warrior God. In a madness-induced state, he inadvertently slays his master and comrades.

Embarking on a mission fueled by remorse, I set off to obliterate each mask my mentor had ever crafted – now hidden in corners of the globe. I refer to it as a quest for redemption, but truth be told, it’s far from noble. It’s more about setting things right than anything grandiose.

On this journey, I face allies who question my resolve, adversaries driven by their own warped ambitions, and masks that push the boundaries of what it means to be human. The epic saga of Mask Battles begins!
