Everyone is eagerly awaiting Ariana Grande’s performance in the upcoming movie Wicked: For Good, a large-scale musical project that was undoubtedly demanding. While some might think her next film, Focker-in-Law, would be a lighter workload, reports suggest it’s been just as challenging, if not more so.
Ariana Grande has a role in the newest Meet the Parents movie as a character named Olivia Jones, and her part in the story is largely a secret. However, during an appearance on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, Grande shared that she underwent significant physical training for the film. She explained that this was necessary to properly portray her character, and she had recently finished filming Focker when she spoke about it.
Actually, this role is more physically demanding than ‘Wicked,’ and I’m serious! I probably shouldn’t say this, but it’s so funny – my character is a triathlete. Yesterday, I was doing burpees and high knees with Robert De Niro, and he was encouraging me! It’s completely wild, and I’m wondering what I’ve gotten myself into, but I’m really enjoying it.
The dancing and choreography in the Wicked movies were undoubtedly demanding for the actors. While Ariana Grande’s background as a pop star suggests she’s used to performing complex routines, it’s unlikely she regularly does burpees.
It’s amazing that Ariana Grande recently worked out with 82-year-old Robert De Niro, and he seemed to be giving her a tough workout! However, De Niro mistakenly called her “Olivia,” which suggests she might have been talking about a scene from the movie where Olivia Jones and Jack Byrnes are characters.
Ariana Grande shared that her character in Focker-in-Law is quite active – she’s a triathlete, and the movie involves a lot of cycling. While Grande is fit, she admitted she’s been challenged to keep pace with her co-stars, who are in excellent shape.
Ariana Grande, known as the singer of “7 Rings,” shared that filming Wicked was very physically demanding. It wasn’t just the dancing and acting; the costumes also presented challenges. She explained that almost every outfit she wore included a corset, with only one costume offering a break from the restrictive clothing.
Each day felt restrictive – the only time I wasn’t wearing a corset was when I was in my pajamas. But it actually helped me get into character. I was so excited to put on the corset and shoes because I wanted to instantly adopt her confident stance.
Ariana Grande commits fully to everything she does, whether it’s fashion or intense physical training. Hopefully, she’ll find a film role soon that isn’t quite as demanding.
The movie Wicked: For Good will be released in theaters on November 21st, and Focker-in-Law is scheduled to come out on November 25th, 2026.
