Dwayne Johnson Pays Tribute to Robin Williams With Jumanji 3 Video Easter Egg

Dwayne Johnson has started filming the third Jumanji movie and shared a touching tribute to Robin Williams, the star of the original 1995 film. He posted a behind-the-scenes video from the Los Angeles set revealing a hidden nod to Williams’ memorable performance.

Dwayne Johnson hints at Robin Williams easter egg as production starts for Jumanji 3

With filming for the new Jumanji movie underway, Dwayne Johnson is paying tribute to the original film’s star, Robin Williams. Johnson posted a video from the set showing that his character, Dr. Smolder Bravestone, will wear a necklace with the dice from the 1995 Jumanji movie as a nod to its legacy.

Dwayne Johnson shared that the dice used in their latest ‘Jumanji’ film is the original prop from the first movie starring Robin Williams. He said it was a tribute to Williams and a way to celebrate the entire ‘Jumanji’ series he launched, as they finished filming the final movie.

Fans got another thrill when the official Jumanji Instagram page posted the first picture of the cast filming. The photo shows Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Dwayne Johnson, and Jack Black in their costumes, standing in front of a city scene. The caption simply read, “Look who’s on the loose.”

The latest announcement hints at a big change: characters from the video game are now crossing over into our world. This connects to a scene after the credits in Jumanji: The Next Level, where ostriches from the game unexpectedly appear in real life because of a mistake made by a repairman with the game console.

I’m really excited – Dwayne Johnson is back with director Jake Kasdan, and the whole crew – Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan – are returning too! They officially started filming the new Jumanji sequel in Los Angeles on November 11, 2025. After the huge success of the last two films, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level, Sony is planning to release this one in theaters on December 11, 2026.
