For three years, Xbox fans have watched and waited for Dave the Diver to come to Xbox Series X|S.

Good news for fans! After a long wait, this highly anticipated game about running a fishing and sushi restaurant is now available on Xbox Series X|S, following its preview at the Xbox Partner Preview event.

The announcement that Dave the Diver is coming to the Xbox Ally X was made in a fun way: a picture showed the game being played on the handheld device, suggesting it’s a great fit for portable gaming.

We also previewed the upcoming “In the Jungle” DLC for Dave the Diver. This expansion takes the game to a vibrant jungle village where players will meet new characters and catch freshwater fish – a change from the saltwater fish found in the original game. The DLC is scheduled to release in early 2026.

Dave the Diver first launched on PC in January 2023, then came to Switch in October of the same year. It was also released on PlayStation 4 and 5 in April 2024, making Xbox players particularly eager for the game to arrive on their console.

It’s been a long wait – about 2.8 years, or 34 months – but Dave the Diver is finally available on Xbox, and as a researcher focused on gaming accessibility, I’m really excited to start playing!

Plus, Dave the Diver is part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program. This means if you buy the game once, you can play it on your PC, Xbox console, and even on compatible handheld gaming PCs.

I haven’t had a chance to play Dave the Diver yet, but I’m planning to soon. It was already on my list of games to try, and all the recent buzz has made me even more excited to finally play it.

People seem to really enjoy this game for a few reasons. I immediately noticed and loved the pixel art and the diverse range of characters shown in the screenshots.

I’ve always loved the combination of pixel art and 3D graphics, and games like Octopath Traveler, with their unique HD-2D style, really appeal to that same feeling of nostalgia.

Players can enjoy relaxing activities like fishing and exploring underwater to gather resources. But the game offers more than just that – you’ll also run a sushi restaurant in the evenings!

I’m really looking forward to experiencing the game’s unique and funny moments, and getting to know its interesting characters.
