The popular Law & Order franchise returned to Thursday nights on NBC in fall 2025. Law & Order: Organized Crime resumed its 10 p.m. Eastern time slot, airing right after Law & Order: SVU. However, fans who subscribed to Peacock could already watch the entire fifth season of Organized Crime before it aired on TV. As of now, NBC and Peacock haven’t confirmed if Organized Crime will return for a sixth season, leaving fans anxious and waiting for news.
I mention “all this time” because the Season 5 finale of Law & Order: Organized Crime actually became available on Peacock way back on June 12th, even though it airs on NBC on November 20th (without any strong language). It’s been over five months since a new episode was released, and seven months since the season began on Peacock. With so much time passing and no word on whether the show will be renewed, it’s understandable why fans are getting impatient.
Based on social media, I’m not the only one who’s more than ready for a decision to be made, for better or worse. In the latest Organized Crime post from the official Law & Order franchise Instagram page, fans took to the comments with pleas for news about Season 6. Take a look at just some of them (edited for clarity):
- @marshmelonis: “Please renew it already 😭”
- @meilyncisneros: “Need a Season 6 please!!! 🙏🏼”
- @_.caaandy._: “So are we bringing OC back or?”
- @thejoysoflife: “So y’all really not giving us a Season 6?!”
- @theanniebenslerbackup: “Renew it, oh my God ! Stop this agony.”
- @haileyhippie: “RENEW. IT. NOW.”
- @linihan_forever: “We are ready to know if we are getting a Season 6 or if we have to riot!! Please and thank you!! 💜🫠🤣”
With just ten episodes in its fifth season, Organized Crime wasn’t expected to continue airing on NBC into 2026, especially after the network scheduled it for early fall. Now, Season 2 of The Hunting Party will take over the 10 p.m. Eastern time slot following SVU in the new year. This means both NBC viewers and those who stream on Peacock will be without new Organized Crime episodes for the time being—unless the show gets renewed by either the network or the streaming service. Before it’s gone, you can see the Instagram post that got fans buzzing before the NBC finale.

I always appreciated that Law & Order: Organized Crime on Peacock could really lean into darker, more realistic storylines because it didn’t have the usual network TV limitations. Honestly, seeing Christopher Meloni back on SVU in Season 27 got me excited about OC potentially coming back to NBC. I’ve never been a huge ‘Bensler’ shipper, but I do genuinely enjoy any scenes with Benson and Stabler together. The fact that Meloni’s SVU episode aired right before the Season 5 premiere of Organized Crime on NBC felt intentional… though you definitely have to do a little mental gymnastics with the timelines to make it all fit!
I might just be trying to stay hopeful about the future of Law & Order: Organized Crime. The fact that it hasn’t been cancelled yet is encouraging, and it’s likely NBC is waiting to see the final viewership numbers before making a decision. It’s been a long wait for fans, and it looks like they’ll have to be patient a little longer.
I’m so glad I can always rewatch the first five seasons of Law & Order: Organized Crime on Peacock! And I definitely don’t want to miss the latest episodes of Law & Order: SVU – Season 27 is fantastic – and Law & Order Season 25, which both air on Fridays.
