Gwyneth Paltrow Sings Onstage at Grand Ole Opry 100-Year Celebration

The talented Gwyneth Paltrow

Actress Marty Supreme unexpectedly appeared at Holly Williams’ concert celebrating the Grand Ole Opry’s 100th anniversary on November 10th. She joined Williams and her husband, Chris Coleman, on stage for a performance.

Holly playfully addressed the audience, saying, “Are you all lucky!” as Gwyneth Paltrow walked over to another microphone, according to a video posted on social media by People magazine. Holly continued, “You’re used to seeing country music stars here, but not Academy Award-winning actors from Hollywood.”

Holly, Chris, and Gwyneth then performed two of Holly’s songs from 2013: “Drinkin’” and “Waiting on June.” Holly shared that “Waiting on June” is a tribute to her grandparents, who were Louisiana farmers.

Okay, so after watching Gwyneth Paltrow absolutely nail her performance, I was chatting with the audience and we were all playfully complaining about how effortlessly she makes everything look! I mean, seriously, she steps off stage looking amazing – it’s a little frustrating, right? Like, can one person be so good at everything and still look that good doing it? We were all having a good laugh about it!

Hank Williams’ granddaughter also shared that she’s been friends with Gwyneth Paltrow for years, first becoming a fan of the actress because of her unique singing voice.

Holly, who has three children with Chris, and Gwyneth, who shares 21-year-old Apple and 19-year-old Moses with her ex-husband Chris Martin, are close friends. Holly has mentioned before how she’s learned valuable parenting advice from Gwyneth.

Holly shared that she and Gwyneth became friends around four or five years ago. They took a summer beach trip together where Gwyneth used a clever system with chalkboards displaying the kids’ names and a point system for good behavior. Holly admired the idea and hoped to try it herself. She feels fortunate to have supportive friends like Gwyneth, who are patient with their children, and she also appreciated having a patient and loving mother herself, all of which have been positive influences in her life.

Gwyneth has openly shared her admiration for Holly’s music, and was even inspired by the song “Railroads” when she starred in the 2010 movie Country Strong.

Gwyneth Paltrow raved about Holly Williams’ music in 2010, telling The Boot she loved its classic, soulful country sound. She especially appreciated singers who conveyed emotion and vulnerability in their voices, saying she really connected with those artists.

But don’t expect Gwyneth to trade a camera for a microphone any time soon.

She confessed that performing in front of an audience was a real challenge for her, as it was completely outside of her comfort zone. ‘Singing in front of people is honestly quite frightening,’ she added.
