Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo Shares Emotional Goodbye to Elphaba for Good

It’s been a rewarding yellow brick road for Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. 

With the release of the new Wicked: For Good movie, the two lead actresses – who play Glinda and Elphaba – have shared what working on the film meant to them.

In an Instagram post on November 21st, Cynthia shared how difficult it was to put her experiences into words. She explained that she could try to write an essay, a poem, or even use the style of Shakespeare, to describe the impact of this journey and the lessons she’s learned. She could attempt to measure the love she felt or count the stories she heard, but ultimately realized that no number or word could truly capture the depth of it all.

However, that didn’t prevent the actress from Harriet from sharing her wishes for viewers of the second Wicked movie, which was directed by Jon M. Chu.

She went on, “Just let me say this: come with me, walk alongside me to the very end, and maybe you’ll discover the same wonderful things I have. Thank you for allowing me to play the role of Elphaba for you.”

Cynthia shared adorable photos on social media giving fans a peek behind the scenes of BTS. The pictures showed her in her Elphie costume on the yellow brick road, posing with the crew, and holding hands with someone dressed as a scarecrow.

As for Cynthia’s costar Ariana, she also shared a message straight from her heart.

Oh my gosh, she finally posted! It said, ‘Thank you, my sweet Glinda, for everything,’ and I literally started crying. Then she said she’ll love Glinda always… and then the best part – ‘Wicked For Good is out now!’ I’ve been waiting forever for this, and it’s like she’s speaking directly to me! I’m so happy!

Ariana, 32, recently shared a series of photos on Instagram. She’s pictured in her famous costume as Glinda the Good Witch from “Wicked,” wearing a pink dress, carrying a magic wand, and sporting a sparkly crown. Ariana had to miss some events recently after testing positive for COVID-19.

The singer shared behind-the-scenes photos, including dress fittings and casual moments relaxing outside her trailer, naturally wrapped in a pink blanket.

This isn’t the first time the two actors have talked about how much the movie meant to them personally.

Ariana recently shared with TopMob News’ Justin Sylvester at the New York City premiere on November 17th that working on this project has been an amazing experience, especially because she got to collaborate with people she deeply admires and cares for. She also expressed her excitement for fans to finally learn the complete story and see the full development of the beloved characters they’ve followed for years.

And to finally be able to close the loop for fans will be particularly fulfilling. 

She added that they’ve been working with these people for nearly five years. It’s incredibly satisfying to finally see them understand everything – the things they’ve known all along.
