Zoopunk Developer Responds to Criticism About AI Use: “All Our Works Are Original Creations”

TiGames, the developer of the upcoming game Zoopunk, has addressed concerns about the use of AI in its creation. The discussion started after a video from January showed Nvidia’s AI technology being used with Zoopunk. TiGames has now stated that the game was made entirely by people.

TiGames told Eurogamer that AI in Zoopunk is limited to helping players create their own content. For instance, players can use AI tools to design custom character or vehicle appearances. The game’s core art and designs, however, were all created by TiGames’ artists.

TiGames stated that all their game content is originally created by their artists. They plan to use AI to help players create their own content – things like vehicle customizations and clothing colors – making it easier and more affordable. Essentially, AI will be a tool for players to expand on the game and support the modding community.

The new game, Zoopunk, was revealed at the Xbox Partner Showcase this week. A trailer showcased the game’s animal-like characters performing exciting and over-the-top actions. The trailer focused on the main character’s quest to find the “Spark” and demonstrated the game’s close-combat fighting style. We also saw a diverse range of enemies, including robotic animals and challenging boss battles that players will face.

The trailer shows a competing group stealing the “Spark” before the main character can get it. Now, the rabbit hero must retrieve it while also battling this rival group. The trailer highlights the game’s quick, third-person combat and reveals that players will be aided by support characters during bigger battles, boosting their fighting abilities.

I’m super excited to hear that the new game they’re working on is set in the same universe as F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch! They’ve said this project, Zoopunk, is a big step for them – it’s going to be a real challenge moving from the 2D side-scrolling style of F.I.S.T. to full 3D action. It’s planned to come out on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2027, which feels like a long wait, but I’m hoping it’ll be worth it!

The game developer explained that they focused on delivering exciting gameplay and high quality in every aspect of the game. They acknowledged that trying a new approach is always a gamble, but it’s a challenge they were eager to take on.

We’re still building Zoopunk and it’s not finished yet. That’s why we’re letting you see it now – we want your feedback, to learn from you, and to develop the game alongside the players who are passionate about it.
