Absolute Universe offers a fresh take on classic DC heroes, placing them in much grimmer scenarios. Instead of a world built on hope, Darkseid’s influence drives the narrative. Heroism is now a struggle against overwhelming odds, requiring the heroes to adapt and become more powerful. While the villains are more dangerous than ever, the heroes have risen to the occasion, even if it meant changing who they are at their core. Ultimately, it’s still a story about heroes triumphing over evil, and we’re here to rank just how dangerous these new Absolute heroes have become.
We’re focusing on the main characters currently leading each of the ‘Absolute’ comic book series. While some series have introduced supporting heroes, like the Green Lanterns in Absolute Green Lantern and Harley Quinn in Absolute Batman, we’re sticking to the core heroes driving the main story. This isn’t about who’s the most powerful, but who would be the most dangerous if they became villains. With that said, let’s begin.
6) Batman

The Absolute Dark Knight is significantly more brutal than the traditional Batman. This version is a massive powerhouse – six feet nine inches tall and weighing 421 pounds. Unlike the original Batman, who carefully considers when to use force and moves with precision, this Batman is an unstoppable force, aggressively attacking enemies without hesitation. He also utilizes far more dangerous weapons, including a flamethrower, and his bat symbol is an axe, which he doesn’t hesitate to use to maim his opponents.
This Batman isn’t like the one you might be familiar with – he doesn’t have unlimited wealth, training, or gadgets. While he’s still a very capable fighter who can take down a lot of criminals, he’s still ultimately human. The others on this list, though, are on a completely different level – they can cause destruction far beyond what any ordinary person could.
5) Martian Manhunter

John Jones and the Martian have the potential to be a formidable team. While John doesn’t possess the superhuman strength of the main Martian Manhunter, he compensates with the Martian’s telepathic abilities. The Martian can enter people’s minds and subtly alter their thoughts and feelings, primarily using this power to help them overcome trauma caused by past events and the actions of the White Martian. However, if the Martian shares the White Martian’s full range of mental powers, this partnership could be incredibly dangerous.
We don’t yet know how powerful John and the Martian truly are, but they’ve proven they can mentally destroy anyone they set their sights on, even if they don’t always choose to. The Martian might need John as a host, which means harming John could stop them. Despite his training, John is still a normal human and vulnerable to being killed. However, if they manage to stay hidden, this duo could cause more chaos and destruction than anyone else.
4) Green Lantern

Although we don’t know the full extent of the Absolute Green Light’s capabilities, Sojourner’s powers seem to work much like those of Green Lanterns in the main DC Universe. She can create anything she imagines, fly at incredible speeds, and withstand massive amounts of damage, all through the power of her will. Since standard Green Lantern rings are already among the universe’s most powerful weapons, the Absolute versions are likely just as strong, if not stronger. Their potential seems limitless, as their power grows with a deeper understanding of emotions and the light spectrum.
Jo’s potential is huge, but she hasn’t fully learned to control her powers yet. She needs training to understand them, but once she does, she could be as powerful as any established Green Lantern. And given how formidable Green Lanterns are – you definitely don’t want to cross them – Jo’s already impressive creations and sheer willpower suggest she’s well on her way.
3) The Flash

Wally West’s speed powers are unique in the DC Universe. Unlike most speedsters, his abilities don’t come from the Speed Force, but appear to originate from another dimension. His powers aren’t just about moving quickly; they’re connected to time and energy. Even so, he’s still the fastest person on Earth – a key strength for any Flash. In addition to his speed, Wally can also glimpse possible futures, though he can’t control this ability. His mind is constantly shifting through time and space, jumping to different moments, and the reason for this remains a mystery.
Wally’s connection to time might eventually give him control over it, but for now, let’s focus on his current abilities. He’s demonstrated the power to absorb energy, though it seems to only work on those already affected by that same energy source. Regardless of any future powers, Wally remains incredibly fast – the Fastest Man Alive. Once he reaches top speed, no one can keep up. If he ever turned against us, he could defeat thousands of people in mere seconds, often before they even realized what was happening, which is a frightening thought.
2) Superman

It’s no surprise Superman is considered one of the most powerful heroes, even in this version of the Absolute Universe. While this Superman isn’t quite as strong as some others – he hasn’t spent as much time absorbing energy from the sun, so his powers drain faster and are harder to control – he has a unique advantage: a living costume named Sol. Sol is a red cape that can grow and change into any form, offering incredible protection and attack capabilities, even shielding the entire town of Smallville. It also manages Superman’s energy levels and can create powerful armor in ‘Tornado Mode,’ boosting his strength and defense.
Superman is incredibly powerful – strong enough to destroy the planet if he wanted to. The story of Absolute Superman focuses on Ra’s and Darkseid trying to transform him into an unstoppable weapon, believing no one could stand against him. While Superman is usually the strongest hero, this version isn’t quite number one because he hasn’t had as much time to develop his skills. He lacks the years of training that other versions possess, which puts him just below the very best.
1) Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman easily takes the top spot. Her inherent strength rivals Superman’s, and she has a wide range of other powers. This version of Wonder Woman was trained in magic by the witch Circe, making her a powerful spellcaster capable of everything from city-wide sonic attacks to enlarging her sword to immense, destructive size. She also wields multiple lassos, two of which we know about: the Nemesis Lasso, which inflicts pain based on a person’s wrongdoings, and the Sacrifice Lasso, which once transformed her into a gigantic, Medusa-like being who defeated the Tetracide with a single glance.
As a movie fan, what really makes Wonder Woman so formidable isn’t just her powers – it’s how she was trained. Seriously, she was raised by goddesses and honed into the perfect warrior from childhood, with Artemis being a key instructor. Honestly, right now, she’s probably the best fighter in the whole DC Universe. When you combine her superhuman strength, magical abilities, that killer training, and the fact that she understands dimensions we can’t even dream of, Diana is just incredibly dangerous. Thank goodness she’s on the side of the angels!
Here’s a ranking of the six Absolute heroes, based on how dangerous they’d be if they went rogue. Do you agree with how they’re ordered? And looking ahead, which upcoming hero do you think could eventually become the most powerful – and potentially the most dangerous?
