AEW Star’s Contract Reportedly Ending Soon (And They Could Thrive in WWE)

Over the past few years, wrestlers have frequently moved between WWE and AEW, with some even switching companies in the same week. Stars have gone from WWE to AEW and vice versa, and we’ve also seen wrestlers return to WWE after time in AEW – like Rusev and Alistair Black. Now, with one of AEW’s original stars approaching the end of their contract, fans are speculating about a possible move to WWE, where they could potentially find a lot of success.

A recent report from Fightful Select indicates that Anna Jay’s contract with AEW is nearing its expiration. This has led to speculation about her future, with some wondering if she’ll stay with AEW or explore options with other wrestling promotions like WWE or TNA. While her and Tay Melo’s loss in a recent tag team tournament has added to the discussion, it’s worth noting they also lost to Megan Bayne and Marina Shafir, who AEW appears to be focusing on currently, so the loss may not be a sign of Jay’s departure.

Jay joined All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in 2020, starting as a magician. She quickly gained popularity after joining the Dark Order faction. While she later aligned with the Jericho Appreciation Society, Jay really found her footing teaming with Tay Melo as ‘TayJay.’ Together, they’ve delivered some of the best matches in AEW.

Throughout her career in AEW, Jay has consistently proven her versatility, succeeding in both individual and tag team matches, including a period wrestling for Stardom. However, despite her accomplishments, she hasn’t quite reached the top level of wrestling. A move to WWE could be the opportunity she needs to break through.

As a wrestling fan, I’ve been really impressed with how WWE has handled talent coming over from AEW. It hasn’t been perfect immediately, but most of those performers have genuinely flourished. People like Jade Cargill, Ricky Starks, Lexis King, and Mariah May are prime examples – they’ve not only built on what they already did well, but they’ve added new layers to their characters and skills. WWE seems to be really good at focusing on what these wrestlers do best, while subtly working on any areas that needed improvement. And honestly, they’ve presented them incredibly well from the start, giving them consistent TV time to really shine.

I find it hard to believe Jay wouldn’t improve with all that training. She already has a strong foundation and will naturally get better with practice. What she really needs is help with how she presents herself and develops her character. Cargill is a great example – her presentation skills are excellent, and she’s refined her character over time to perfectly match. She’s now very confident in that role, and Jay could follow a similar path to success.

Anna Jay has proven she can excel in various wrestling styles, from comedic performances to intense matches. If WWE presents her well and highlights her range, she has the potential to reach a wider audience and achieve greater success. While AEW has also demonstrated its ability to showcase talent, a move to NXT and then the main WWE roster could be the key to unlocking Jay’s full potential. The appeal of joining WWE also lies in the opportunity to face fresh opponents, something that always excites fans when a new wrestler signs with a major promotion.

I’m really intrigued by this, and I’m eagerly awaiting more solid information. Only time will tell what happens, but I’m optimistic we’ll find out more soon.
