In the world of The Walking Dead, the story always comes back to Rick Grimes. Though it appeared he sacrificed himself in Season 9 by destroying a bridge to save his friends, both Daryl Dixon and Michonne Grimes refused to believe he was gone and spent years searching for him, each on their own path. The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live follows Michonne as she finally finds a clue leading her to a unique community in Pennsylvania. Daryl’s search, however, doesn’t go as smoothly.
Besides still looking for Rick, I’ve been following Daryl on this new mission Maggie asked him to do – he’s gone all the way to France to try and figure out where the virus that caused everything even came from. Honestly, it’s way more than he bargained for! This trip has put him in serious danger and completely separated him from everyone he knows. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is finally giving him a bit of an advantage, but it feels like time is running out for him to achieve what we’ve all been hoping for after so many years. We’re all really eager to see if he can finally pull it off!
Daryl Dixon’s Run in The Walking Dead Universe Is Nearing Its End

The new season of Daryl Dixon begins with Daryl and Carol seemingly heading back to America. After reaching London and managing to find a boat despite the walker-filled city, their journey takes an unexpected turn when the boat crashes near the coast of Spain. They quickly team up with new allies, but it soon becomes apparent that trouble is brewing and they’ll face another fight for survival.
At the close of Season 3, Carol, Daryl, Antonio, Roberto, and Justina are prepared to sail away, seemingly safe. But their hopes are dashed when Fede, an enemy they believed was defeated, returns and sets a fire, leaving them stranded. Season 4 of Daryl Dixon is the last season, making another unexpected twist unlikely. However, the story isn’t moving quickly to resolve things in Spain, which makes a long-awaited reunion between characters increasingly improbable.
Daryl Dixon Season 4 Isn’t Acting Like a Swang Song for The Walking Dead Franchise

Everything we’ve seen from the fourth season of Daryl Dixon suggests there’s still a lot happening in Spain. While the show does a good job of building out its world, it’s understandable why some viewers are getting frustrated with the slow pace. Daryl’s current goal is to gather information and bring it back to his friends in the US. It would make sense for a significant part of the final season to focus on him sharing what he’s learned and, crucially, being reunited with Rick – unaware that Rick has already returned to the Commonwealth.
It’s possible AMC is saving a Rick and Daryl reunion for a last-minute surprise. However, a quick scene or two wouldn’t be enough to properly celebrate their connection. Rick and Daryl’s relationship is central to the entire series, and it would be disappointing if it didn’t receive a more meaningful conclusion.
