Aaron Paul explained why he won’t be voicing Powerplex in the upcoming fourth season of Invincible. He shared that the role was emotionally difficult, and while he enjoys the show, he decided it was best not to continue.
Aaron Paul explains why he will not voice Powerplex in Invincible Season 4
Paul shared on the Kinda Funny Gamescast that while he enjoyed appearing on a show he’s a big fan of – he watches every episode! – the experience was mentally exhausting. He did a few episodes, was asked to return for another season, but ultimately found it too taxing.
He emphasized that Powerplex is genuinely struggling. He explained that imagining himself in Powerplex’s situation was deeply unsettling and uncomfortable.
Paul explained the role took a significant emotional toll on him and affected his well-being. “I didn’t appreciate how it impacted me, and that’s why I had to leave,” he stated. However, he spoke highly of his colleagues, saying, “The cast and crew were all fantastic.”
Scott Duvall, also known as Powerplex, was introduced in Season 3 of Invincible. He’s portrayed as somewhat unstable and fixated on revenge, believing Invincible is responsible for the deaths of his family – his sister and niece.
Overcome with sadness, Powerplex makes a terrible mistake that tragically results in the deaths of his wife and child. Since Aaron Paul is no longer playing the character, the show will likely find a new actor to take on the role, but no decision has been made yet.
Invincible, created by Robert Kirkman and based on the Skybound/Image comic book, centers around Mark Grayson, a teenager discovering his superpowers. He also has to come to terms with his father, Omni-Man, a powerful hero. The show is known for its mature storytelling and well-developed characters. Season 4 is set to premiere in March 2026, and will feature Lee Pace as Thragg. Plus, the creators have already greenlit Season 5.
Matthew Rhys has also joined the Season 4 cast in an undisclosed role.
