Chris Hemsworth is opening up about a difficult chapter for his family.
In his new documentary, Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember, Chris Hemsworth revealed that his father, Craig Hemsworth, has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. He also shared how his family is coping with the challenges of his father’s illness, alongside his brothers Liam and Luke Hemsworth.
Chris, who has children India Rose (13) and twins Sasha and Tristan (11) with his wife Elsa Pataky, recently shared in a documentary (available on Disney+ and Hulu starting November 24th, according to US Weekly) that it’s easy to not fully appreciate your parents. He admitted he’s been so caught up with life that he hasn’t been able to spend as much time with his own father, especially after his father received a diagnosis.
The 42-year-old explained that his father is in the early stages of a disease that affects the brain, and experiences both good and bad days. This inspired him to take the road trip featured in his new documentary.
Chris said he and his dad are taking a road trip because he wants to do everything possible to help someone. They’ve been planning this trip for years.
The Marvel actor, who revealed in 2022 that he carries two copies of the APOE4 gene – a genetic marker that raises the risk of Alzheimer’s – said this trip might help his father in his fight against the disease.
As he put it, “If it helps, fantastic, but I’m just looking forward to spending time with my dad.”
In 2022, while making his docuseries Limitless, Chris discovered he showed signs suggesting he might develop Alzheimer’s disease in the future. Although it wasn’t a definite diagnosis, he later talked about how he dealt with this health news.

Chris explained to Vanity Fair in 2022 that receiving the medical news was a deeply impactful experience. He noted that most people tend to avoid talking about death, hoping to postpone it, and operate under the assumption they can always find a solution. But when faced with clear signs of a serious illness, the reality of one’s own mortality becomes unavoidable.
Although the news was unsettling, Chris feels good knowing what to expect. He explains, “Even if this information doesn’t extend your life, it’s about improving your quality of life today.”

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, even though it can be harsh, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier,” Schumer was surprised to see doctors commenting on her appearance online. They suggested she might have Cushing syndrome, potentially caused by steroid injections. This prompted her to realize she had been receiving steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. Without the internet’s reaction, she might not have connected the injections to her symptoms and gotten a diagnosis. Schumer recently shared that she’s relieved to have a form of Cushing syndrome that will resolve on its own, and that she’s healthy.

Last March, while having breakfast with my husband, Justin, I suddenly started feeling unwell. He noticed something was off, and I honestly couldn’t respond. I tried to speak, but the words just wouldn’t come out, and the right side of my face started to droop. Thankfully, it passed, but we immediately went to the hospital to get checked out.
After some tests, doctors discovered I’d had a small blood clot travel to my brain, which they identified as a TIA – a transient ischemic attack, essentially a temporary stroke. Further investigation at UCLA revealed I actually have a small hole in my heart called a patent foramen ovale, or PFO. Apparently, the blood clot had moved into my heart, gone through that hole, and then traveled to my brain, causing the TIA.
I’m so grateful to share that I had a successful procedure to close the PFO, and I’m feeling fantastic now. It was a really frightening experience, but I’m so thankful for the quick diagnosis and treatment, and I’m doing much better.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the virus affected nerves in his ear and face, causing paralysis. He showed fans how he couldn’t blink, smile, or move his nostril on one side of his face, and that eating had become increasingly difficult. Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away.

In his 2024 Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, Foxx explained that he suffered a severe headache and then lost consciousness. He doesn’t remember the next 20 days.
Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. There, doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that led to a stroke.
After surgery, Foxx woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for extensive rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed deep gratitude for the prayers he received, saying he needed every single one.

A hospital scan revealed she’d suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage – a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding around the brain – due to a ruptured aneurysm. She immediately underwent surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, struggling to speak coherently.
Though the aphasia eventually passed and she was discharged after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had doubled in size, requiring a second surgery. This procedure initially failed, causing a massive bleed and putting her life at risk. Doctors had to perform a more invasive surgery, accessing her brain directly through her skull.
Fortunately, Emilia reports she has now made a full recovery and is at 100%.
