Gaming Journal A Profound Waste of Time Features Astro Bot in Gorgeous New Issue

Most video game magazines are gone now, but surprisingly, new ones still appear from time to time. And these aren’t your typical magazines – they’re often high-quality, beautifully made publications.

I’m really excited about this gaming journal called A Profound Waste of Time. It’s totally reader-supported through crowdfunding, and they’re currently running a Kickstarter campaign for their sixth issue. I’ve already pledged, and I’m hoping you will too!

PlayStation fans will especially enjoy the latest issue, which features a detailed look at Astro Bot.

The latest issue features a major interview with Nicolas Doucet of Team Asobi. He discusses how his studio captures the magic of classic films and translates it into fun, clear, and energetic gameplay, and also reflects on 30 years of PlayStation.

This issue has original and adorable artwork on the cover. The special edition even features a lenticular effect, so Astro appears to change expressions as you tilt the magazine.

I think it’s a really gorgeous game, but it’s not just pretty! It also includes some fascinating interviews with the people behind it – Fumihiko Yasuda, the president of Team Ninja, and Matt Nava from Giant Squid. It’s cool to hear directly from them!

You can support the new issue by contributing to our Kickstarter campaign. A standard copy costs around £25 (about $33), and the special edition is available for £45 (approximately $59). We expect to deliver everything in December 2026.

Each issue of A Profound Waste of Time is carefully crafted and usually includes around 200 pages of new content, which explains its cost.
