Dr. Terry Dubrow Breaks Down Meaning of an “Ozempic Penis”

Dr. Terry Dubrow is discussing a significant side effect experienced by some men who are taking semaglutide medications, such as Ozempic.

This is designed to help people feel better about their weight loss journey and improve their intimacy.

On the November 24th episode of their podcast, Between Us, Terry mentioned a newly identified side effect linked to Ozempic. He referred to it as “Ozempic penis,” explaining that it’s a real condition he’s become aware of, as he told Heather Dubrow.

Before her husband explained what was wrong, Heather guessed he meant he was experiencing erectile dysfunction, saying, “I think he’s saying it’s hard for him to get an erection.”

However, the star of Botched, who has been married to Heather since 1999, explained what was meant by the term “Ozempic Penis.”

He explained that significant weight gain can sometimes lead to a condition where the penis becomes hidden by excess tissue. This often happens in very obese men who haven’t seen their penis in a long time because of the large amount of fat and tissue in the pubic area, which can cause it to become covered.

Heather quickly caught on, noting, “it looks bigger?”

Terry quickly confirmed his wife’s latest guess.

“Men, I want to inform you that Ozempic penis is a thing,” Terry said. “And it’s good.”

Heather, who has three children – Nick and Max, ages 21, Kat, 18, and Ace, 14 – with the doctor, joked that men would quickly seek out the weight loss drug due to how well it works. She does, however, hope the drug’s side effects were different for women.

She said, frustrated, “It’s just so unfair. It seems like when women use Ozempic, they face negative consequences, but for men, it’s seen as a positive thing. It’s the same old double standard.”

Terry jokingly responded, “You haven’t experienced any… growth, but you’ve definitely seen shrinkage, thanks to Ozempic. Congratulations.”

Heather is also eager to see how her husband is responding to Mounjaro, the weight loss medication he’s been taking.

She jokingly said she hadn’t noticed because I was taking Mounjaro, and she was surprised I hadn’t mentioned it before.

Terry and Heather have openly talked about the downsides of weight loss medications. They discovered that these drugs don’t offer any benefits for women and can actually cause a specific and unpleasant genital side effect, sometimes referred to as ‘Ozempic Vulva’.

Terry told TopMob News in October that lower body fat often means lower estrogen levels. This can potentially lead to less natural lubrication, increased irritation, and reduced fullness in the vaginal area.

However, Heather was quick to note, “That’s not my problem!”

Oh my gosh, I was so shocked to hear that my absolute fave, the Queer Eye star, started taking a GLP-1! Apparently, they had a bit of a health scare back in 2023, and they started using it after that. I just want them to be healthy and happy, and if this helps, I’m all for it! They shared this in October 2025, and I’ve been following it closely ever since.

Jonathan shared in a TikTok video that after experiencing a health problem, he planned to get a colonoscopy. If the results were clear, he intended to try a GLP-1 medication, as he simply wasn’t feeling well.

Jonathan shared that he’s in the best shape of his life after losing weight and starting Pilates at Solidcore. He said, “I’ve always wanted abs, and I finally have them!” He also added that he’s feeling great and enjoying showing off his new physique.

Even after losing seventy pounds with medication, Jonathan continued to champion body positivity.

They explained that they believe in body neutrality – the idea that your value as a person isn’t tied to how you look. Everyone deserves love and appreciation, regardless of their body type.

Okay, so I’ve been following her forever, and it’s amazing! She started taking Mounjaro, this medication for Type 2 diabetes, back in late 2022, and honestly, the transformation has been incredible. Then, in May 2025, she just showed everyone how much weight she’d lost, and it was so dramatic! I’m so proud of her journey!

Meghan Trainor and her husband, Daryl Sabara, bonded even more after welcoming their son, Riley, in 2021. They shared on their podcast, Workin’ On It, that they successfully completed the intense 75 Hard challenge together. They also revealed that they started hearing from friends and even doctors who were using medications like Mounjaro and Ozempic.

I’ve been following Daryl and Meghan’s health journey, and it’s so inspiring! They both decided to start with the smallest dose of Mounjaro, and they’re really committed to combining it with regular exercise and eating well. Meghan explained they do everything together, and this is just another adventure they’re tackling as a team – it’s really sweet to see!

As a longtime fan of Kendra Wilkinson, I was surprised to see her recent post about trying one of those weight loss injections. She shared on Instagram that she only tried it once – just one shot! – and quickly decided it wasn’t for her, saying she was throwing the rest away. It seemed like a pretty quick experiment, honestly!

The model explained she didn’t want to take any chances with her health. As a mother of two, she’d heard too many frightening stories about people needing emergency room visits and even surgery, and she wanted no part of it.

In March 2025, the host of the Golden Globes spoke out in support of Ozempic, encouraging people to feel comfortable discussing their use of the medication.

She enthusiastically shared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that she fully supports anyone considering Ozempic. ‘I’m all for it,’ she said, adding, ‘I have no problem with anyone wanting to try it.’

She explained that she wants to create a more open conversation about weight loss, because she believes there’s a lot of unnecessary shame surrounding it. She feels this shame actually comes from people who prefer she stay larger, and are upset by her progress. They may feel threatened by her confidence and personality as she transforms.

The model stated in December 2024 that she previously used Ozempic, but she discontinued it when she began competing on Dancing With the Stars the previous autumn.

Nader admitted to trying the trend when it first started, as many others were doing. He said it initially made him feel sick to his stomach, but he actually enjoyed it. However, when he competed on Dancing with the Stars, he realized he couldn’t continue doing both.

Dog the Bounty Hunter’s daughter revealed on November 1st that she’d lost 58 pounds over ten months by changing her diet and using the medication Tirzepatide. She said she now feels proud of her progress and how she looks.

Before discovering a solution that suited her, she had a difficult experience with Ozempic. She told TopMob News, “I really disliked it. It made me feel nauseous whenever I tried to eat, and sometimes I couldn’t eat anything at all. My body just didn’t react well to it.”

As a huge fan, I was so curious about what changed with one of the Real Housewives of New York City stars between seasons! There was a lot of talk about how amazing she looked, and she finally addressed all the speculation about her transformation. It’s great to hear her set the record straight!

She explained to Us Weekly in October 2024 that it’s common for people on reality TV to face speculation about cosmetic procedures, like having plastic surgery or using weight loss drugs like Ozempic. She strongly dislikes Ozempic and said she would never inject herself with it.

Following online rumors that Lizzo had used the drug Ozempic to lose weight, sparked by a recent photo showing her slimmer physique, the singer shared a video. The video featured a popular sound clip from the movie Django Unchained, where actor Christoph Waltz’s character says, “It’s like a reward.”

In a September 2024 episode of her podcast, Dream On, Kate Moss’s sister shared that starting Ozempic was “the worst decision I ever made.”

I was so worried when I heard what happened. Apparently, she took a dose intended for someone much larger – around 220 pounds or more – and it really hit her hard. She couldn’t keep anything down, not even water, and ended up needing to go to the emergency room. It was a scary situation!

She explained that she became so severely dehydrated she had a seizure, which she described as the most frightening experience of her life. A friend had to hold her feet to keep her still as her face and body clenched up. The entire situation was terrifying.

In April 2024, Jon Gosselin, known from the show Jon & Kate Plus 8, told Page Six he lost 32 pounds in two months using semaglutide injections – the generic version of the drug Ozempic.

“You know what’s annoying?” he said. “The regret of not starting it 10 years ago.”

Ree Drummond, known as the Pioneer Woman, wrote on her blog in March 2024 that she didn’t lose 50 pounds in 2022 by using Ozempic or other weight loss drugs.

She emphasized that she would never criticize anyone for making that life choice.

In August 2023, the actor, known for his role on 30 Rock, shared on Today With Hoda and Jenna that he lost weight using Ozempic, which reduced his appetite.

In March 2024, he revealed a surprising update about his health. Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he joked, “I’ve actually managed to eat more than Ozempic allows!” and explained he’d gained 40 pounds.

He later told TopMob News he was just kidding about his previous statement, but also shared, “Ozempic worked well for me and I’m happy I used it.”

The star of The Real Housewives of Dubai recently revealed she used Ozempic after experiencing a midlife crisis at age 45.

Caroline Stanbury recently discussed the challenges of weight loss after turning 40 on her podcast, Uncut & Uncensored. She explained that many women have asked her how she’s managed to lose weight, and she admitted she used the medication Ozempic, which she believes is a very effective tool for those who can access it.

During a July 2024 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star stated she doesn’t use Ozempic. She jokingly followed up by saying she’s actually taking Mounjaro, and expressed her happiness with her current weight and energy levels.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Apparently, one of my absolute favorites from The Real Housewives of Atlanta tried one of those weight loss injections, and… it didn’t work for her! I’m so gutted for her, honestly. I was following her journey so closely, hoping it would be a success, but she shared that it just didn’t do the trick. It’s just… heartbreaking!

She explained that a certain treatment didn’t reduce her appetite at all. Unlike some people who lost their appetite, she continued to eat normally – appetizers, a full meal, and even dessert. She admitted feeling down when she saw others succeed with the same treatment while it didn’t work for her, leading her to question what was wrong with her and why she wasn’t experiencing the same results. She shared these thoughts in June 2024.

I’m not a medical expert, but it’s clear there’s a lot of data on what treatments are effective and what isn’t,” she said in an interview with Fox News Digital. “Ozempic can be very helpful, but it also carries some risks.

Former Little Mix member Perrie Edwards, who has previously discussed her battle with anorexia, confessed it was challenging to ignore online rumors about her weight and the possibility she was using Ozempic.

In an August 2025 interview with The Guardian, Jade admitted she constantly struggles with the temptation to try Ozempic. While she understands why others use it, she worries that, given her past struggles with eating disorders, taking the drug could be problematic for her.

The actress, known from Beverly Hills, 90210, reportedly used a weight loss drug after having her son, Beau, in 2017.

She mentioned on her podcast in April 2024 that Ozempic wasn’t effective for her, but Mounjaro helped her lose weight.

The actress explained to Francesca Amiker of TopMob News that it’s crucial to remember medications are prescribed for specific individuals and shouldn’t be used simply for cosmetic reasons.

Raven said, “Take care of what you need to, but please make sure to save the medicine for those who really need it.”

In September 2023, the host of Talk U.K. shared that she had lost 42 pounds after using the medication Ozempic earlier that year.

She told TopMob News that the decision is entirely personal. She also clarified that using something to aid weight loss isn’t something to be ashamed of, and is perfectly acceptable.

She added, “We don’t have to bulls–t.”

Sharon’s daughter has also weighed in on the Ozempic trend.

“It’s fantastic,” the former star of Fashion Police told TopMob News in January 2024. “There are so many ways to lose weight, so why not choose one that’s more enjoyable than just exercising?”

Kate Winslet, known for her role in Titanic and previously scrutinized by the tabloids for her weight, recently discussed her views on the current trend of weight loss.

In a March 2024 interview with The New York Times Magazine, Kate confessed she wasn’t familiar with Ozempic, saying, “All I know is that it’s some pill people are taking.”

“Oh, my God,” Kate remarked after learning about the injectable. “This sounds terrible.”

In December 2023, the star of The Hills shared that she had recently lost 22 pounds without using Ozempic. She told Page Six that she believes there are no easy fixes when it comes to weight loss, and she wouldn’t consider using the drug herself, nor would she comment on others who do. She doesn’t want to name anyone or get involved in the discussion, as it’s something she would never personally do.

Heidi said she’s looking for something sustainable and isn’t afraid of hard work.

During her June 8, 2023 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, the Trainwreck star openly criticized celebrities for being dishonest about using Ozempic to lose weight.

Honestly, it’s EVERYONE. Seriously, everyone is trying this stuff, and they’re all pretending like it’s just about eating less? Please! I was telling Andy Cohen – he gets it, he’s talked about this too – that it’s total BS. Just admit it! Either you’re on Ozempic or something similar, or you’ve had procedures done. Just be real about it, okay? Stop with the lies!

Okay, so Amy Schumer just gets it, you know? She’s always so honest, and she just said the most amazing thing! She was talking about being open about stuff, and she was like, ‘When I had liposuction, I told people I had liposuction!’ Seriously, I love that she’s so real. It’s like, own it! It’s so refreshing to see someone famous just be honest about things like that. I’m totally obsessed with how upfront she is!

She shared that she quickly became very interested in Ozempic in 2022, but ultimately stopped taking the medication—which is typically used for Type 2 diabetes—because it interfered with her ability to enjoy time with her son, Gene.

I remember being too sick to play with my son,” Schumer shared. “I was really thin at the time, and he was throwing a ball at me, but I just didn’t have the strength to participate.

Oh my gosh, Dr. Drew told me – well, he told TopMob News, but it’s basically the same thing! – at the Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test premiere that people are so conflicted about shows like that. He said we’re totally fascinated, like we have to watch, but then we also secretly judge the contestants? It’s so true! We’re all hooked, but also a little critical, aren’t we? I just love how insightful he is!

As a lifestyle advisor, I always say, if there’s a treatment that could genuinely improve your well-being, it’s definitely worth considering. Don’t dismiss options that might help you feel your best!

Forget winter, a hot take is coming.

The actress, known for her role in Game of Thrones, didn’t hold back when discussing Ozempic and the commercials promoting it.

I was really struck by something I saw on Instagram recently. The actress I follow reposted a tweet from Sophie Vershbow, and it perfectly captured how I feel about those Ozempic ads everywhere! She was talking about seeing them plastered all over the Times Square subway, and honestly, I agree with her – they’re just… a lot. She shared a picture of one that said, “One shot to lose weight,” and another that basically offered the same thing – “A weekly shot to lose weight.” It just felt… insensitive, you know?

Turner adding her own commentary, writing, “WTF.”

As a lifestyle expert, I want to clarify something I’ve been seeing a lot of discussion around. Novo Nordisk, the company that makes Ozempic, has confirmed to me that currently, the FDA hasn’t approved Ozempic specifically for long-term weight management. It’s important to understand that while it’s being used for that purpose by some, that’s not what it’s officially approved for right now.

Novo Nordisk, the maker of Ozempic, acknowledges that some doctors are prescribing the drug for weight loss, but the company doesn’t advertise or support using its medications for purposes other than those officially approved. They state they fully follow all U.S. laws and regulations when promoting their products, and they expect doctors to consider each patient’s specific needs when choosing the best treatment.

Comedian Chelsea Handler is speaking out about Ozempic, revealing her doctor prescribed it to her for anti-aging purposes without fully explaining what the drug was.

She mentioned on the January 25, 2023 episode of Call Her Daddy that she hadn’t realized she was using a certain method, and someone told her it could help her lose five pounds if she wanted to.

But while she tried the drug, Handler noted that she didn’t like how it made her feel.

She remembered returning from vacation and immediately using the medication. A few days later, she met a friend for lunch who mentioned feeling sick and taking Ozempic. She realized she was feeling nauseous too, but initially thought it was just jet lag from her trip to Spain.

Handler eventually stopped taking the medication because she didn’t need it for medical reasons, and she shared any leftover doses with friends.

She admitted to giving Ozempic to around four or five friends, explaining she decided it wasn’t for her because she felt it was unnecessary. She described having friends come to her house to receive injections, scheduling appointments throughout the day.

Khloe Kardashian clapped back when commenters on Instagram speculated that she was taking Ozempic.

Kardashian defended her commitment to fitness in a January 2023 post, explaining she works out five days a week, starting at 6 a.m. She asked people to stop making assumptions about her and expressed disappointment that negativity continued even at the start of the new year.

Besides using weight-loss medication, Dr. Dubrow shared in January 2023 that he briefly tried Mounjaro himself to understand its effects on the body.

The Botched star said she was really impressed with the weight loss medication. She didn’t need to lose a significant amount of weight herself, but she was curious to experience it firsthand, since many of her patients used it. She wanted to see what it was like for someone who isn’t diabetic and only wants to lose about ten to fifteen pounds.

Dr. Dubrow wouldn’t say exactly how much weight he lost or how long he used the medication, but he did confirm that he’s stopped taking it.

He decided to stop taking the medication because he wanted to regain his appetite, and he’d also been feeling mildly nauseous.
