With Thanksgiving here, the holiday season is just around the corner! While we want to enjoy time with family this week, there’s plenty to be excited about when December arrives, especially for movie and TV fans. Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Hulu, Peacock, Paramount+, and Prime Video have all announced what they’ll be streaming in December 2025, and we’ve gathered everything into one convenient list.

December will be a big month for streaming fans, with new seasons of two popular shows arriving. The final episodes of Stranger Things‘ five-season run will premiere on Christmas, with the very last episode airing on New Year’s Eve. And starting December 17th, Prime Video will begin releasing the second season of the critically acclaimed series Fallout, with new episodes coming out weekly.

As a total cinema and TV buff, I’ve been keeping up with what’s new on streaming. Right now, Netflix has dropped Season 2 of Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, which I’m excited to check out. They also have a comedy special, Matt Rife: Unwrapped – A Christmas Crowd Work Special, if you’re in the mood for some laughs.

I’ve been checking out what’s new to stream! Right now, I’m excited about HBO Max and the Capital One MLB Open. I also love watching cooking shows, so I’m definitely tuning into the newest season of Chopped. I’m also planning to watch New Orleans: Soul of a City and “The Hidden Homeless,” The Whole Story with Anderson Cooper – both look really impactful. And as a football fan, I can’t wait for Hard Knocks: In Season with the NFC East!

Okay, so I was browsing Tubi the other day and stumbled across a pretty interesting mix of movies. I saw Arlington Road, which is a classic thriller, and then some really cool, artsy stuff like Wong Kar-wai’s In the Mood for Love and David Lynch’s Inland Empire. They also had Coffee and Cigarettes, which is just a fun, quirky watch. For something a bit lighter, Cruel Intentions and Destination Wedding were there, and if you’re in the mood for something more dramatic, Joe Bell looked heavy. They even had Ingmar Bergman’s Fanny and Alexander – a real cinematic experience! And for action fans, Triple 9 was available. Oh, and they were showing old episodes of Murphy Brown from 2018, and the beautiful Paris, Texas too. Not a bad selection, honestly!

Okay, so Disney+ just dropped Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour concert film, but it’s not just a film – it’s split into two parts! They released the first two episodes, titled “The End of an Era,” and then immediately followed it up with the premiere of “The Final Show.” Basically, if you missed the tour, or just want to relive the magic, Disney+ has you covered with these two initial installments. It’s a pretty smart way to roll out the content, giving fans a double dose right away.

And for something completely different, Tony Shalhoub Breaking Bread looks charming – I love seeing actors explore their passions. If you’re into cars, Truck U is back for its 21st season, and for some holiday cheer, White House Christmas is now streaming. A pretty diverse lineup, honestly!

Okay, so I’ve been checking out what’s new on HBO Max. They’ve got a really interesting documentary called Saving Yellowstone with Dennis Quaid – it’s about, well, saving Yellowstone, and Dennis Quaid narrates! Plus, they just dropped a concert film, Counting Crows: Have You Seen Me Lately? – it’s an HBO Original, so the production quality is fantastic. Definitely adding both of those to my watchlist!

As a movie buff, I’ve noticed Prime Video has a pretty eclectic mix of titles! You can find everything from classics like Blade (the 1998 original and its sequel) and Free Willy to more recent fare like Ready Player One and the 2013 version of The Great Gatsby. They’ve also got some fun, lighter options like Music and Lyrics and Practical Magic, and even a bit of everything in between – Dark Shadows (2012), He’s Just Not That Into You, In the Heart of the Sea, Project X, The Legend of Tarzan, both Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movies, and Wrath of the Titans. Oh, and don’t forget a good old fairytale with A Cinderella Story! It’s a surprisingly diverse collection.
