As remakes and revivals are common now, people have wondered if a new Home Alone story might be made. Macaulay Culkin, the film’s star, says he’d be open to returning if the script was good, and he even has an idea that would keep the focus on a chaotic family.

At a recent event called “A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin,” the actor discussed revisiting his role as Kevin McCallister. He has a good relationship with the famous movie and recently brought the character back for a commercial. He even considered buying the actual house used in Home Alone! According to People magazine, he said he’d be open to making another movie, but only if certain conditions were met.

I wouldn’t be completely allergic to it. It would have to be just right.

The thought of Macaulay Culkin reprising his role as Kevin McCallister is interesting. While many fans would likely be thrilled to see the McCallister family return, others might not be so keen. It got me thinking about The Santa Clause, though, and how its sequels actually worked. If this new project can nurture its initial idea and really run with it, I’m optimistic. And honestly, the holiday setting feels like a smart move, especially considering what Macaulay Culkin has planned. He’s hinted that there’s a lot more to this story than meets the eye, a deeper meaning beneath the surface.

I agree with the former American Horror Story actor. Any new idea would need to be as heartfelt, funny, and enjoyable as the original films to even compare, and his suggestion isn’t bad at all. It remains to be seen if Chris Columbus’ views on the Home Alone series and whether another movie should be made will evolve. He’s been reluctant to revisit the setting of the original films, and that’s something fans probably wouldn’t want to see altered either.
