Light No Fire Has “Another Tiny Team” Working on it in the Background Confirms Hello Games

Hello Games, the team behind No Man’s Sky, first announced their next game, Light No Fire, last year. Since then, they haven’t shared many details. However, in a recent Steam post celebrating No Man’s Sky’s award nomination, studio head Sean Murray said development on Light No Fire is progressing well.

He mentioned that Hello Games has been secretly developing Light No Fire alongside their ongoing support for No Man’s Sky. However, a small, separate team is working on the new game, so while development is happening, Light No Fire is likely still a ways off from release.

Murray shared that a small team at Hello is still hard at work on their next big project, Light No Fire, and many players are eager for updates. He added that he’s very happy with how development is going and believes the final product will be exceptional.

Throughout the rest of his post, Murray highlighted all the improvements made to No Man’s Sky over the past year, specifically mentioning significant updates like Worlds Part 2, Relics, Beacon, Voyagers, and Breach. He also discussed the update released for N7 Day, which celebrated Mass Effect and added the Normandy SR1 spaceship to No Man’s Sky.

According to Sean Murray, No Man’s Sky has received over 30 significant updates since its 2016 release. He’s consistently impressed by the small development team’s dedication, creativity, and ongoing support for the game on various platforms.

Next year marks our tenth anniversary, and the team shows no signs of losing momentum. We plan to continue as long as creating remains enjoyable for them and our community continues to appreciate their work. It’s a passion project for everyone involved, including myself.

The game Light No Fire, first shown at The Game Awards 2023, hasn’t had much marketing since its initial reveal. It’s set on a planet the size of Earth, but features a beautiful, fantastical art style with rich environments and unusual creatures for players to discover.

Similar to the game No Man’s Sky, Light No Fire will use procedural generation to create its world, and players will be able to explore it together in co-op multiplayer. The game’s reveal trailer showed actual gameplay footage.

We don’t have a release date for Light No Fire yet, but it’s probably being made for both computers and game consoles. Here’s a rundown of everything we know about the game so far.
