I’m loving how South Park is diving into the holidays this season! After a really fun Halloween special, they tackled Thanksgiving with this hilarious Turkey Trot episode. Of course, things quickly went sideways – it’s South Park, after all! – and the town ended up tangled with the US government. But the biggest surprise? They brought back two characters we haven’t seen in ages! It’s awesome to see Matt and Trey revisiting some classic material – they really know what their fans want.
The South Park episode “Turkey Trot” features the townspeople participating in a Thanksgiving Day jog with a $5,000 prize. Several local business owners could really benefit from the money. At the South Park Community Center, we see Jimbo and Ned, representing the town’s gun club, sign up to compete. Jimbo is in good shape, but Ned uses a wheelchair and has scars from previous events. Despite his condition, Ned is determined to participate in the race.
Fans often wondered what happened to Ned and Jimbo, since they hadn’t been seen in a while, and some thought the creators, Stone and Parker, might have written them off the show. Fortunately, they’re still alive and even make an appearance in the latest South Park Thanksgiving special, which will likely please longtime viewers. With only one episode left in the twenty-eighth season, it’s going to be interesting to see if the creators bring back any other characters who’ve been absent for a while.
What Happened to Ned?

Ned sustained significant injuries while serving in the war, but his condition is now worse than ever. Confined to a wheelchair and bearing extensive scars, many fans assumed the character had died between seasons. In the season twenty-two episode, “Time to Get Cereal,” Ned is severely injured by ManBearPig, a recurring creature from South Park. Interestingly, Ned later appeared as an elderly man in the special South Park: Post COVID, marking the first time viewers saw him in his wheelchair.
Just one episode is left in the current season of South Park, set to air on Comedy Central on Wednesday, December 10th. While details about the finale are still a secret, it’s likely the town of South Park will face consequences from the White House due to what happened in the “Turkey Trot” episode. Fortunately, South Park has been renewed for future seasons, meaning fans can look forward to seeing more of their favorite characters return.
