Over the past few days, some early gameplay footage of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has appeared online, and you might have already seen it.
You can still find the video if you’re interested, but it doesn’t accurately reflect the current state of the game.
Ubisoft recently addressed the leaked footage of Prince of Persia on X (formerly Twitter), confirming what fans were seeing.
The post explained that this video was recorded during a community feedback workshop we held in early 2024, so the leaked footage is almost two years old.
“The game has changed so much since then, and we can’t wait to show it next year.”
Since it was first revealed in 2020, the development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has faced numerous challenges and setbacks.
Okay, so everyone absolutely hated how the game looked – the characters, everything. Ubisoft got a ton of flak, so they pretty much hit the reset button. They swapped out the whole development team and started building it from scratch, which is a pretty massive move!
Recent rumors suggest the remake will be showcased at this year’s Game Awards, with a possible release date announcement for January 2026.
Since the official account said they’re excited to reveal it next year, we suspect the release date isn’t as soon as some rumors suggest.
Despite the delays, Ubisoft has stated the game is still expected to release in the first three months of 2026, so it’s likely not too far away.
