EastEnders viewers have been eagerly anticipating this: Sam Mitchell, played by Kim Medcalf, is back in Walford!
Sam seems to have returned with a clear motive: getting money. However, she also reveals a real health issue, and now she’s trying to convince her family that she’s turned over a new leaf.
I’m really worried about Nicola and Harry! It looks like she’s finally going to tell George about their baby, and she’s doing it because she’s desperate to help Harry. Plus, with Teddy going to court tomorrow, everything feels so tense! I can’t wait to see how George reacts – this is huge!
Tensions are rising between Kat Moon and Anthony Trueman. Kim Fox accidentally makes a big error, and Lily Slater is concerned about her grandmother, Jean.

1. Sam Mitchell reveals her cancer fears to Jack Branning
Okay, so Sam Mitchell is back in Albert Square and, predictably, her first stop is Phil’s safe! She’s trying to swipe some more cash, but things get really weird. Nigel Bates walks in on her, and because he thinks she’s actually Clare – his daughter – he lets her take the money! It’s a total mix-up, but it gives Sam what she wants, at least for now.
Just as she was leaving, she walked right into a confrontation with Zoe Slater – talk about bad timing! Suddenly, Sam was being accused of causing Zoe all sorts of trouble, and things quickly escalated into a full-blown face-off. It was pretty intense, honestly.
Oh my gosh, things are getting crazy in Walford! Phil Mitchell just found out someone stole his money, and after Nige described who he saw, Phil went storming off to Harry’s Barn to confront Nicola, thinking she did it. But then he overheard Sam having a huge row with Kat, and it quickly became clear he’d jumped to the wrong conclusion! It’s always drama with the Mitchells, isn’t it?
She quickly leaves before he reaches her and goes to McKlunky’s for a burger with her estranged son, Ricky Branning (Frankie Day). Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) sees them together, and she tries to leave, but while he stops her, she reveals she’s been worried about her health.
Sam explains that she’s found a lump, and she thinks it might be cancerous.
Jack is puzzled why Sam hasn’t seen a doctor. Meanwhile, Phil demands the return of money that was stolen from him. Jack’s partner, Denise Fox, listens to Jack’s worries about Sam and then makes an agreement with her.
During dinner with Ricky and Lily, she figures out Jack and Denise aren’t telling the truth, forcing her to ask Phil if she can stay with him.
While Phil and Julie Bates (played by Karen Henthorn) are away filming Nigel, she swiftly develops and begins executing a new scheme. Jack and Denise discover she missed her appointment, prompting them to step in and confront her.
Phil, Julie and Ricky are soon left furious with Sam for her actions.
What has she done this time? And what’s next in her health journey?
2. Teddy Mitchell receives his verdict as his son Harry overdoses
Harry Mitchell is still struggling with drug use and asked his mother, Nicola, for money to buy them, but she refused. She also decided to keep Teddy’s upcoming court date a secret from him.
George accidentally makes things worse when he talks to Harry and lets slip that his father intends to admit guilt. This prompts Harry to confess that he was responsible for the death of Tobias “Okie” Okyere (played by Aayan Ibikunle Shoderu), and George then persuades him to turn himself in to the authorities.
Driven to protect her son, Nicola unexpectedly confesses she’s carrying George’s baby.
He’s shocked by what he’s heard and looks to Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) for confirmation, and she confirms the story. At the same time, Harry is at home, using drugs.
When the pair arrive back at No. 1, they find Harry has gone missing.
On the day Teddy’s trial began, Gina Knight and her father, George, teamed up and found him, despite Nicola’s warning to stay away. They urged him to be there for his dad in court, and the family was deeply shaken by the judge’s decision.
Life doesn’t improve for the family after Barney chooses to live with his biological father, Zack Hudson (played by James Farrar), and Harry experiences another overdose.
Fortunately, he was found, and Nicola quickly stepped in to help before the paramedics got there.
Will the family ever recover from their recent traumas?
3. Kim Fox makes a huge blunder following her split from Howie Danes
Kim Fox is feeling down after her split from Howie Danes last week and goes to The Vic to have a few drinks.
After having a bit too much to drink, she impulsively offers up her car as a prize in Yolande Trueman’s Christmas raffle. The next day, she realizes what she’s done and starts to regret it.
However, is this really the end of Kim and Howie?
4. Kat Moon learns the truth about Dr Anthony Trueman’s marriage breakup
Kat remains concerned about Zoe and cautions Anthony to keep his distance and not exploit her. She’s upset to discover the circumstances surrounding his divorce.
Anthony later discovers his father, Patrick, has been in touch with his former wife, Sophie. Meanwhile, Kat continues to tell Zoe that Patrick isn’t a good influence on her.
Will Zoe and Anthony stay away from each other?
5. Lily Slater is concerned for her grandmother Jean’s well-being
Jean Slater volunteers to host dinner for the Branning family at her house. Her granddaughter, Lily, worries about her, and with good reason, as the evening doesn’t quite go as expected.
Sam’s return is already stirring up trouble, and Jean unexpectedly leaves when Stacey Slater’s move to Brazil is brought up.
