Spike Chunsoft showed off six minutes of gameplay from the upcoming Danganronpa 2×2 demo at today’s Danganronpa 15th Anniversary Festival. The gameplay was revealed during a special event dedicated to Danganronpa 2×2.

Okay, so we’re at Jabberwock Island, which used to be a big tourist spot, but now it’s totally empty… and weirdly perfect. Me and the rest of my class from Hope’s Peak Academy were brought here for a field trip, but things went south fast. Monokuma’s back, and he’s forcing us into another one of his killing games. We’re stuck on this island, and the only way out is to figure out what’s going on. But honestly? I have a bad feeling that uncovering the truth might be worse than staying trapped…
This new game continues the story of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, using the original characters and setting as a starting point. However, a surprising event kicks off a completely fresh mystery with new victims, killers, and deceptions. You can expect the same amount of gameplay and a fully engaging experience as the first game.

Okay, so I’m basically a detective here, trying to figure out who committed murder by talking to people and collecting clues. Then, things get intense – I have to go head-to-head with the other students in a Class Trial, and I need to quickly point out all the holes in their stories. It’s like a super-fast debate where I’m proving who’s lying! Plus, all the dialogue is fully voiced by some seriously talented actors, which makes it even more immersive.
The story unfolds in chapters and each is divided into three main parts:
- Daily Life – Explore Jabberwock Island by walking around freely and interacting with the Ultimate Students. When a murder occurs and a body is discovered, an investigation begins.
- Investigation – You’ll examine the crime scene, talk to other Ultimate Students, and collect evidence needed to solve the case. The evidence you find becomes Truth Bullets for rebutting your classmates’ contradictory statements. Collecting all clues lets you advance to the Class Trial.
- Class Trial – Use the evidence you’ve gathered to find the Blackened—the murder culprit—in the Class Trial. The Ultimate Students will use their unique talents to debate the case from different angles. As statements flow across the screen, shoot down the contradictions with True Bullets to counter them and continue with the trial. Reach the truth of the case through nonstop, high-speed debate!
Danganronpa 2×2 will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC (through Steam) in 2026.
