Just in time for the holidays, DC has released a new animated Superman short featuring Krypto, the popular character who’s become a fan favorite.
Just before the movie Superman came out, James Gunn announced a series of fun, animated shorts called Krypto Saves the Day! These shorts would be released between 2025 and 2026. The first one, “School Buss Scuffle!,” came out on August 15, 2025, and the second, “Halloween Havoc,” was released on October 1st.
Just in time for Black Friday, on November 28th, DC Kids released a new short called “Package Pandemonium.” This five-minute cartoon features Krypto the superhero dog as he follows a mail carrier, accidentally causing some playful chaos during the holiday season in Metropolis. You can watch the short film here.
‘Krypto Saves the Day!’ Is Separate from the DCU
Even though the Krypto Saves the Day! shorts include the DC Studios logo and the character Krypto, they don’t connect to the larger DC Universe story, so you don’t need any prior knowledge to enjoy them. These short, animated films are meant to be a fun introduction to DC Comics for younger audiences, using a familiar character from Superman. Four episodes have been planned, with the last one scheduled to be released in 2026.
Krypto’s appearances in DC films have created a smooth connection between his live-action roles. He first appeared in Superman, released on July 11, 2025, and will next be in Supergirl, the second DCU movie, coming to theaters on June 26, 2026. Although it hasn’t been officially announced, Krypto is likely to be featured in the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, scheduled for release on July 9, 2027.
With the year winding down, Krypto Saves the Day! is one of the final big DC releases of 2025. There’s talk that a trailer for Supergirl will be shown in December, before people see Avatar: Fire and Ash. Since Lanterns has been pushed back to 2026, Supergirl is now the next DC Universe project we’re anticipating. Fans are also hoping to hear who will play Brainiac, the villain in Man of Tomorrow, before the end of the year. In the meantime, families can have fun watching Krypto’s funny escapades.
