With the Strictly Come Dancing quarter-finals just around the corner, one celebrity has been voted off after a challenging week of competition.
The celebrities experienced a rollercoaster of a week, celebrating first-ever perfect scores from Amber Davies and Karen Carney. Then, everyone faced the fast-paced and unpredictable Instant Dance challenge.
Unfortunately, not all the couples will make it to next week’s Musicals Week. Balvinder Sopal and Alex Kingston will be competing in the dance off to avoid elimination.
Honestly, I was a little surprised! The judges ended up choosing to keep Balvinder in the competition, which meant Alex and his partner Johannes Radebe were eliminated after their Cha Cha to Anita Ward’s ‘Ring My Bell’. It was a fun performance, but just wasn’t enough to save them, sadly.
When Tess Daly asked Alex about her experience on the show, Alex shared that she never expected to make it this far. She described it as an amazing journey and said she was proud of how much she enjoyed the process – you could even see it in her smile! She also confirmed that the saying about dance partners becoming friends for life is true, especially in her case with JoJo.
When Tess commented on their fantastic partnership, Johannes shared, “These past few weeks have been the most joyful of my life. Alex, thank you for being so strong – I’ll cherish these memories. I think we accomplished everything we set out to do with our dancing. This is just the start for us, and we’re all one big Strictly family.”
It was a difficult week for Alex, who admitted that she wasn’t happy with her performance.

She accepted the judges’ feedback, even after Craig Revel Horwood made a harsh comment, saying her performance steadily declined.
When I’m just watching the show as a viewer, I usually agree with what Craig says. So now that I’m a contestant, it’s hard for me to disagree with him, because I realize I’d probably agree with him if I were still watching from home.
She added that she thinks it’s important to openly discuss the challenges competitive dancers face. She explained that people rarely talk about the physical toll the sport takes on dancers, especially those performing at a high level.
Craig initially scored Alex a 4 after her performance, but Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas both gave her 6 points, and Anton Du Beke was more generous with a 7.
Her score of 23 was her lowest so far in the competition, going all the way back to her first dance in week one.
Having delivered some truly impressive dance performances, the actress will likely look back on her time on the show with fondness and pride.
Get ready for the quarter-finals! Our dancers are about to face another exciting and challenging competition. It’s going to be spectacular!
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday 6th December at 6.50pm.
