Gypsy Rose Blanchard Shares Why She Wears Wigs, Shows Off Natural Hair

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is sharing a beauty secret. 

The 34-year-old, who shares 11-month-old daughter Aurora with her boyfriend Ken Urker, has been wearing wigs in her social media posts. She recently explained to a fan why she’s been making this fashion choice.

Gypsy revealed a short, pixie-style haircut in an Instagram Story on November 26th, explaining that she’d had to cut off most of her hair after nearly two years of bleaching caused significant damage.

Even though Gypsy decided to focus on keeping her hair healthy, she confessed she doesn’t fully love her current style, which is why she wears wigs.

Gypsy said she prefers wearing a wig because she’s not comfortable with her hair being short. She uses a good quality wig while her natural hair grows back in and becomes healthy.

As she put it, “I’m giving my hair a fresh start so it can grow long again.”

Gypsy has openly discussed her transformations before. Soon after being released from prison in December 2023—where she served time for plotting to kill her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard—she had a nose job. She told TopMob News at the time that she was “very proud” of the result.

She said last May that the change was slight – she still looked like herself, but it had noticeably boosted her confidence.

Although Gypsy’s hair is now back to its original color, she explained why she had bleached it shortly after being released from prison.

She said she was really happy with her new appearance. Getting blonde hair made her feel more confident, and she joked that blondes just seem to enjoy life more.

Gypsy has continued to change her appearance since welcoming her daughter, Aurora, in December 2024, recently sharing that she lost over 25 pounds after giving birth. She’s made it clear that she plans to keep changing her look to reflect how she feels.

A month after being released from prison in January 2024, Gypsy Rose Blanchard shared on Instagram (in a post that has since been deleted) that it’s always a good time to make a change, even a small one like trying a new hairstyle. She encouraged people to enjoy life and find happiness through creative self-expression.

In late March 2024, three months after her prison release, Gypsy shared that she and Ryan broke up.

She announced on Facebook that she and her husband are separating, and she has moved back in with her parents who live near the bayou, according to People magazine.

Gypsy Rose had surgery on her nose on April 5, 2024. The changes to her appearance will be shown on the Lifetime show, Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up.

I was so surprised to hear the news – Gypsy Rose Blanchard has filed for divorce from Ryan Scott. Court documents show she filed on April 8th, 2024. It’s especially poignant considering they only got married in prison back in July of 2022 – less than two years ago! It just goes to show you never really know what’s happening behind closed doors, even in seemingly unconventional relationships.

In late April 2024, shortly after filing for divorce, Gypsy revealed she was back together with her former fiancé, Ken Urker. The next month, she confirmed their renewed relationship on social media with a TikTok video featuring sweet moments they’d shared.

In her video, Gypsy described her love story with Ken as “legendary.”

A fan brought up a suggestive question about Ken, referencing Gypsy’s previous comments about her ex, Ryan. Gypsy responded promptly and honestly.

Gypsy recently tried an In-N-Out Burger for the first time – a Double-Double, made ‘animal style.’ She gave it a rating of 7 out of 10.

Gypsy described meeting Kim Kardashian, who has recently become involved in criminal justice reform, as a great honor.

Gypsy Rose Lee told TopMob News host Keltie Knight that she’s grateful for the time she spent talking with the woman. They discussed prison reform, a cause Gypsy feels strongly about, as she’s personally experienced the system. She praised the host’s work in the area, saying she’s done ‘really amazing things’ to improve it.

Just under three months after starting divorce proceedings, Gypsy revealed she was pregnant with her first child with her new partner, Ken.

She revealed in a July 2024 YouTube video that she is 11 weeks pregnant, adding that the pregnancy was a complete surprise.

Gypsy showed off her meaningful new tattoos in July.

Gypsy and Ken are expecting a baby girl in August 2024, and they revealed they’ve chosen the name Aurora Raina Urker at a baby shower in November.

In December, Gypsy Rose Blanchard released her memoir, My Time to Stand, co-written with Melissa Moore and Michele Matrisciani, detailing her life story up to that point.

Gypsy gave birth to her first baby on Dec. 28, 2024, exactly one year after her prison release.
