While Sean “Diddy” Combs is serving his four-year prison sentence, fellow rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is releasing a documentary about him. Announced in 2024, the docuseries explores allegations against Combs, and a trailer recently became available. Because Jackson and Combs have a history of conflict, many assumed the feud motivated the documentary. Now, Jackson is addressing those assumptions.
50 Cent On Whether His Beef With Diddy Prompted Him To Make The Documentary
The four-part documentary series, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, directed by Alexandria Stapleton, shows personal footage of Sean Combs from the six days before his September 2024 arrest and indictment. Combs was aware the footage was being filmed, but it’s currently unknown how Curtis Jackson and his team obtained it. Jackson and Stapleton recently spoke with ABC News about the documentary, where Robin Roberts asked Jackson—known as “Fiddy”—if his past with Combs influenced his decision to make the show. He responded:
They’ve had issues for about 20 years, and this started with him offering to take me shopping. I saw it as a way of testing the waters, like he was seeing if I’d be open to getting closer. It wasn’t meant to be taken personally.
Some critics believe 50 Cent’s main goal isn’t to give a voice to those accusing Sean Combs, but rather to reveal Combs’ behavior. While Jackson insists the documentary isn’t based on personal feelings, he also explained a larger reason for creating it – a desire to address issues within the hip-hop community.

Following Diddy’s 2024 arrest, Ray J initially spoke about the importance of the community uniting to denounce his alleged behavior, but later changed his stance and asked for Diddy to be released, claiming there wasn’t enough proof. Meanwhile, Curtis Jackson, also known as 50 Cent, has publicly shared numerous opinions about Diddy over the last few months.
What Did 50 Cent Say About Diddy Amid His Legal Woes?
Throughout the year, 50 Cent has repeatedly shared his opinions about Sean Combs, even posting mocking images of him created with artificial intelligence. After the trial concluded in July with a split decision, 50 Cent sarcastically praised Combs for avoiding conviction on the most serious racketeering charge. He also stated he would actively work against any potential pardon Combs might receive from former President Donald Trump.
Diddy hasn’t publicly addressed the criticisms made by 50 Cent while he’s been in prison. Diddy, the founder of Sean John, was found guilty of sex trafficking charges this summer and sentenced in October. He is currently serving his sentence at Fort Dix prison in New Jersey, with a release date set for June 2028. It’s unclear if he will be able to watch 50 Cent’s documentary about him while incarcerated.
